A 28-year-old man, Mubarak Hamisu, has allegedly committed su!cide in Gyadi-Gyadi area of Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.

His lifeless body was found hanging from a tree on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the development to Daily Trust on Wednesday, February 11, said the command has commenced an investigation into the incident.

He said the report was received from the Divisional Police Officer in Tarauni at about 6:10 a.m. following information from residents of Ja’oji Quarters, Gyadi-Gyadi.

According to him, detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene where the victim was found unresponsive in what is suspected to be a case of su!cide.

Kiyawa stated that no physical signs of violence were observed on the body.

He said the victim was evacuated to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, where he was certified d3ad by medical personnel.

The PPRO added that the corpse had been released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

He said investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced, assuring that further developments would be communicated to the public.

Speaking on the development, an uncle to the deceased, Muhammad Ghali Abdulwahab, said, “We woke up to the unfortunate incident. I received a call informing me that Dan Kurma had been found hanging, and I immediately rushed to the scene. We took him to the hospital, where he was certified de3d.

“We later went to the police station to give our statement and then returned home. He was 28 years old. We do not know what exactly happened.

“His grandmother said he came home last night with his friend’s bicycle and later went out. Since then, she had not seen him again until this morning. We cannot say for certain what happened, but we do not believe he took his own life.

“When we went to the police, they mentioned noticing a mark on his neck and asked whether there had been any previous attempt on his life. We told them we were not aware of anything like that. However, when we prepared his body for burial, we noticed the mark ourselves.

“One of my brothers said he had seen the mark before. When he asked Dan about it at the time, he refused to explain. It appears there may have been an earlier incident involving him.

“For now, we are not suspecting anyone. We are cooperating with the security agencies as investigations continue to determine what truly happened.”

Robot Dogs To Help Mexican Police At 2026 World Cup

A pack of robot dogs will help Mexican police tackle crime during the 2026 World Cup this summer, authorities said on Monday, February 10.

The four-legged robots are designed to enter dangerous areas and broadcast live video back to security forces, who can watch before taking action during the football tournament.

The World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, is being hosted by Mexico alongside the United States and Canada.

The animaloid robots were acquired for 2.5 million pesos (S$183,865) by the city council of Guadalupe, part of the Monterrey metro area, which will host one of the World Cup venues.

A video released by the local government shows one of the robots walking on four legs through an abandoned building and climbing stairs, though with some difficulty.

The robo-hound can be seen transmitting live images to a group of police officers walking stealthily behind it.

In the demonstration the canine robot encounters an armed man and orders him to drop his gun using a loudspeaker.

The purpose of the robot dogs is “to support police officers with initial intervention… to protect the physical safety of officers,” said Guadalupe mayor Hector Garcia.

They will be deployed “in case of any altercation,” he added.

BBVA Stadium, which will be known as Estadio Monterrey during the tournament, will host four matches.

Security Agents Attempt to Arrest El-Rufai at Airport

Published

Security agents on Thursday reportedly attempted to arrest former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, at the airport upon his return from Cairo, Egypt.

The development was disclosed by his media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye, in a post shared on his 𝕏 account.

According to Adekeye, security operatives moved to arrest El-Rufai shortly after his arrival. However, the former governor resisted the move and insisted on receiving a formal invitation before honouring any request.

Adekeye further alleged that during the encounter, the security agents seized El-Rufai’s passport from one of his aides.

His statement read, “Security agents today attempted to arrest Malam Nasir El-Rufai as he arrived on a flight from Cairo. Malam El-Rufai declined to follow them without a formal invitation. They, however, snatched his passport from an aide.”

Ekwutosblog recalls that El-Rufai had earlier raised concerns that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government might be planning his arrest amid growing political tension in the country.

The former APC chieftain, who is now a key figure in the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), had also claimed that some politicians were being pressured to defect to the ruling party or remain within its fold.

He made the allegations during an interview with BBC Hausa, where he stated that although he had not been arrested, some of his close associates had already been detained.

In recent weeks, El-Rufai has intensified his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the APC, raising speculation about political motivations behind the alleged attempt to arrest him.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
