…. _Democracy Day Address from Hon. MacDonald Ebere, PhD, KSJI, State Party Chairman, All Progressives Congress, Imo State_
As we commemorate Democracy Day, I extend heartfelt greetings and best wishes to every citizen of Imo State. Today, we not only celebrate the progress and achievements of our nation, Nigeria, but also reflect on the significance of democracy and honor those who have tirelessly fought for its establishment and preservation. This day also marks one year of RENEWED HOPE in our country, Nigeria.
June 12 is a symbolic date that honors the sacrifices and struggles of our heroes who championed the cause of democracy in Nigeria. We remember their extraordinary efforts and commit ourselves to upholding the principles they fought for every day.
As the State Party Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, I want to affirm my unwavering belief in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to the tenets of democracy. Throughout his career and in his over one year in office as President, Dist.Sen Tinubu has consistently demonstrated a steadfast commitment to democratic ideals, good governance, and the progress of our great nation, Nigeria, through strategic implementation of national policies aimed at rejigging the system for growth. His visionary leadership has set a standard for accountability, transparency, and inclusiveness, which are the pillars of a thriving democracy.
I also wish to humbly request our esteemed President to continue fostering a collaborative relationship with our Shared Prosperity Governor, Dist.Sen Hope Uzodimma. It is through such cooperation that we can always deliver the true dividends of democracy to Imo State. I have witnessed firsthand Governor Uzodimma’s relentless efforts, innovative ideas, and passion for the development of our state. The first quarter of his second term as has been super productive, a replication of his achievements in his first term. With the support and guidance of President Tinubu, I am confident that we can achieve even greater milestones in the years ahead.
To the citizens of Imo State, I extend my sincere good wishes on this significant Democracy Day. As we celebrate the progress and achievements of our democratic journey, let us remain united and committed to the ideals that make our nation great. I urge you to continue offering your prayers and support for the leadership of our state and country. Together, we can build a brighter future for Imo State, where prosperity, justice, and peace prevail.

Abuja, Nigeria – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is facing internal strife as Hon Success Opara, a prominent party official, has warned against attempts to use the party to deceive Nigerians. Opara specifically criticized the leadership of David Mark, stating that the party cannot be used to scam citizens again.
“ADC holy Party cannot be used to scam Nigerians again,” Opara said, emphasizing that those forming coalitions are hindering the party’s growth and denying youths opportunities to thrive.
“Those who are forming coalition don’t want to give the youths the chance to strive in the party,” she added.
Opara’s statement highlights the deepening divisions within the ADC, with concerns over leadership and the party’s direction.

2027: Bala declares aspirants over 55 years disqualified in ADC
The factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala Gombe, has announced that the party under his leadership will bar individuals above the age of 55 from contesting for political positions.
Gombe made the disclosure during an interview with BBC Hausa, where he outlined a vision centred on generational change and greater youth participation in politics.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a party that belongs to all Nigerians. What we are doing now is to ensure the party moves forward properly.
“We have decided that we will give the youths a real chance. The time has come for young people to take the lead in politics.
“If you are over 55 years old, you are not going to contest for positions in the ADC under our leadership.
“We want to bring in fresh blood, new ideas, and energy from the youth. Nigeria’s future depends on the young generation.
“The old ways have not worked well for the country. We need to open the door wide for youths to participate fully as candidates, leaders, and decision-makers,” he said.
