IGP COMMISERATES WITH FAMILIES OF AIG MAKU, CP AYILARA

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, is deeply saddened about the loss of two prominent Senior Police Officers, AIG Philip Sule Maku (rtd.), and CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara.


Retired AIG Philip Sule Maku, fwc, served as Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Ebonyi States before retiring as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Force Headquarters, on 12th December, 2021. He unfortunately passed into glory on 23rd August, 2024.

CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, served in various capacities including as DCP State Criminal Investigations Department, Lagos State, before his posting as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Akwa Ibom State. He passed on after a brief illness on 28th August, 2024.

The dedication of both senior police officers to service and integrity can never be forgotten. Their passing is a great loss, not only to their families but to the entire Nigeria Police Force. Their loss has left an indelible mark on all who knew them and every single life that they have impacted in the course of their respective careers.

On behalf of the entire officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP extends his sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of late Rtd. AIG Philip Sule Maku, fwc, and CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, praying for solace during this difficult time. May their souls rest in peace.

EID-EL-FITR: IGP DISU FELICITATES MUSLIM FAITHFUL, ORDERS NATIONWIDE DEPLOYMENT OF TACTICAL ASSETS

​The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

​In furtherance of his commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment during the festive period, the Inspector-General has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to implement robust security arrangements.
​Operational measures include:
​Strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives.

​Deployment of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.
​Increased presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces to ensure peaceful, hitch-free celebrations.

​The IGP has also ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties. These actions are aimed at proactively deterring criminal activities and ensuring a swift response to any emerging threats.

​IGP Disu calls on members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the following emergency lines:
