Chennai-born Chandrika Tandon wins Grammy for Best New Age Album
Los Angeles (California) [US], February 3 (ANI): Chennai-born Indian-American businesswoman and musician Chandrika Tandon claimed a Grammy award at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tandon, 71, won the coveted award in the Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album category for her album ‘Triveni’, a captivating blend of ancient chants and world music.
The honour was announced at the 67th Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday. (early Monday morning in India). Incidentally, Tandon is the elder sister of former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.
‘Triveni’ is a seven-track album created as a meditative journey for listeners, aimed at promoting “inner healing.”
The project is a collaboration with South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto, bringing together their distinct musical styles.
The album’s name, “Triveni,” symbolizes the confluence of three rivers, which metaphorically represents the fusion of the artists’ diverse traditions.
Music producer George Varghese took to his Instagram handle to congratulate Chandrika Tandon and the team for the big win.

Sharing a group picture from the Arena, he wrote, “And the winner is !!!!! Wouter Kellerman Chandrika Tandon and Eru Matsumoto and my sister from another mother Tholsi Pillay!!” adding, “Congratulations to the Dream Team for winning the Grammy Awards for the BEST NEW AGE album for their Album ‘TRIVENI’ . I am ever grateful and blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of your Video Team but more than that .. always treating me as part of your family over the years.”
This year marks Tandon’s second Grammy nomination, with her first in 2010 for her album ‘Om Namo Narayana: Soul Call’.
She was nominated this year alongside some prominent names, including producer Ricky Kej, sitar player Anoushka Shankar, and Indian-origin British artist Radhika Vekaria.
In a social media post earlier, Chandrika wrote, “We wouldn’t be here except for the incredible support of so many! There are such spectacular fellow musicians I met along the way — many nominees and many not — and I want to tell you ALL how much joy you created for me and the world with your artistry. Thank you.” She also gave a shout out to her collaborators Eru Matsumoto and Wouter Kellerman.
The 67th Annual Grammy Awards were hosted by Trevor Noah and streamed live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The premiere ceremony, which saw the majority of awards being handed out, was available to viewers on YouTube via the Recording Academy’s official channel.
For the Indian audience, the Grammy event was available to stream exclusively on Disney Plus Hotstar. (ANI)

Rapper, Jesse Jagz, last night joined the Instagram live session of media personality, Daddy Freeze,to cuss him and other Nigerians for discussing 2Face Idibia’s alleged marital crisis.
Earlier on Monday, December 1, Tori News reported that a former manager of 2Face, Kaka Igbokwe, had an interview with Daddy Freeze on IG where he made some shocking allegations about 2Face’s marriage to Natasha.
Kala alleged that Natasha is severely abusive towards 2Face and that things are so bad 2Face feels like he is a ‘’House Husband”. He also alleged that the couple abuse drugs and would need Rehab and Therapy to heal.
He went further to claim that Natasha is now in control of 2Face’s finances and has been making bad decisions with the monies in her possession.
His revelation left many in shock, and calls were made for 2face to be “rescued”. The singer came out on Wednesday, December 3, to appeal to Nigerians to ‘’cease fire” as the hate on his wife Natasha is dangerous and puts her in harms way.
In the live session with DaddyFreeze, Jesse jags said 2Face is a legend and should be left alone. He went further to say he will be living Jos where he is based to Abuja to go and free 2Face.
His appearance and countenance during the live session however raised concerns amongst some Nigerians as he was smoking while speaking.
“I am physically heading from Jos to Abuja tomorrow morning. I am physically going to remove 2Baba make him go drink beer. Make him smoke Igbo” he said

Rapper Abdulkareems Instagram And Facebook Accounts Suspended After Release Of Song Inviting US President Trump To Nigeria..
The social media accounts, Facebook and Instagram of popular Nigerian musician and activist Eedris Abdulkareem have been suspended by the management of the microblogging site Meta.
It was gathered that his accounts were flagged and taken down, with no access, less than a week after the music star released a new single titled “Open Letter to Donald Trump.”
In the song, Abdulkareem addresses the President of the United States, Donald Trump, appealing for his quick intervention to help resolve crises, particularly the security challenges confronting Nigeria.
Released under his label, Lakreem Entertainment, on TikTok on November 29, 2025, the song is described as both a message to the US President and a sharp critique of Nigeria’s political elite.
Abdulkareem describes Nigerian leaders as “criminals of all shades and hues” who enrich themselves while citizens suffer amid severe insecurity, including kidnappings, killings, and terrorism.
While singing “dem dey fear Donald Trump,” the rapper positions the song as an effort to bring global attention to Nigeria’s deepening crises.
