The Senate has turned down Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s request to return to legislative duties, insisting that her six-month suspension is still in force until the Court of Appeal rules on her case.

In a letter signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate acknowledged receiving the senator’s notice that she planned to resume on September 4, 2025, which she said marked the end of her suspension.

But the Senate pointed out that her suspension started on March 6, 2025, and added that the matter is sub judice  since it is already before the Court of Appeal.

“The matter remains sub judice, and until the judicial process is concluded, no administrative action can be taken to facilitate your resumption,” the letter stated.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was suspended in March after the Senate accused her of breaching its standing orders.

While the Federal High Court in Abuja upheld the suspension, she has since taken the matter to the Court of Appeal.

According to the letter, the Senate will only review her suspension after the court delivers its judgment.

Former Kogi West lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has described the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as dead and buried.

Melaye disclosed that APC agents from the Presidential Villa are controlling the PDP.

The key member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, disclosed this while featuring on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday night.

According to Melaye: “Apart from our Lord Jesus Christ no dead can rise again and I want to tell you that whatever you are seeing is make-shift, the dead is dead, we can only advertise the obituary.

“Dead and buried, PDP was sold and I’m not sure if they got the receipt of payment but it was sold and what you have now is APC controlled PDP.

“It’s a party that is being controlled from the Villa, it’s the agents of the APC that controls the PDP.”

Reacting to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State’s remark regarding the party, Melaye said: “If a sitting governor is saying let’s have a party first, it means that there is no party.

“I’m a proud member of the ADC and that is the party that will unseat Tinubu and by the grace of God send Tinubu out of the Villa, come may 29, 2027.”
