IGP Hosts National Defence College Officials, Reaffirms Commitment to Technology-Driven Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to adopting innovative, technology-driven strategies to strengthen crime prevention, enhance operational efficiency, and address emerging security challenges.

This statement was made during a visit by the Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), Rear Admiral J.O. Okosun, and Course 33 participants to the IGP at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on July 22, 2025.

– The NDC participants presented a research paper titled “Emerging Technologies and Internal Security: Strategic Options for the Nigeria Police Force by 2035.”

– The paper outlined a strategic roadmap for integrating emerging technologies into police operations by 2035.

– The IGP commended the participants for their well-researched and forward-thinking presentation.

The IGP emphasized the critical need for the NPF to adopt technology-driven strategies to strengthen internal security, crime prevention, and rapid response capabilities. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to implementing these strategic options as part of its broader reform and modernization agenda.

The IGP lauded the enduring partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the National Defence College, expressing optimism for continued collaboration under his leadership.

The Commandant of the NDC also highlighted the longstanding partnership between the two institutions, noting that one of the core mandates of the NDC is helping participants develop innovative solutions to pressing national and security challenges.

EID-EL-FITR: IGP DISU FELICITATES MUSLIM FAITHFUL, ORDERS NATIONWIDE DEPLOYMENT OF TACTICAL ASSETS

​The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

​In furtherance of his commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment during the festive period, the Inspector-General has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to implement robust security arrangements.
​Operational measures include:
​Strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives.

​Deployment of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.
​Increased presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces to ensure peaceful, hitch-free celebrations.

​The IGP has also ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties. These actions are aimed at proactively deterring criminal activities and ensuring a swift response to any emerging threats.

​IGP Disu calls on members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the following emergency lines:
