UZODIMMA UNVEILS NEW DEVELOPMENT PLANS, ASSURES 24-HOUR POWER SUPPLY IN IMO

The Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre (EIICC), Owerri, was a beehive of activity today as Governor Hope Uzodimma addressed members of the Imo State Expanded Executive Council and key stakeholders in an interactive session that highlighted the government’s progress and future plans.

Speaking at the event, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable development across all sectors of the state’s economy.

Governor Uzodimma announced that Imo State will soon enjoy uninterrupted 24-hour power supply beginning this November, a major stride aimed at boosting productivity, attracting investments, and improving residents’ quality of life.

He further disclosed plans to introduce free transportation services for students and pensioners using newly procured coaster buses. The routes will cover Owerri–Okigwe, Orlu, Aba, Onitsha, and the end of Port Harcourt Road, easing mobility and reducing transportation costs for the people.

On infrastructure, the Governor made a striking revelation that the Federal Government has not refunded a single penny for the numerous road projects undertaken by his administration.

“The reason I’m building these roads is not for refunds. Imo people are the ones who will use them. The Governor that comes after me might even be the one to enjoy the FG refunds,” Uzodimma stated.

Reaffirming his commitment to integrity and accountability, he declared:

“When I finish my tenure, call EFCC or ICPC — I will answer every call because I have nothing to hide.”

Earlier in the meeting, the APC State Chairman commended the Governor for his sterling performance in the health sector, digital innovation, infrastructure, road network expansion, and civil service reforms, noting that Imo currently boasts the highest minimum wage in Nigeria. He added that the All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to grow stronger across all Local Government Areas of the state.

Party stakeholders and respected statesmen also took turns to eulogize the Governor for his remarkable achievements, visionary leadership, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of Imo people. They applauded the governor’s numerous people-centered policies and expressed confidence that more transformative development projects are underway under his administration.
