Security has been significantly heightened across Obowo Local Government Area, and strategic other locations of Okigwe Zone, Imo State as preparations reach their peak for the much-anticipated 2025 Okigwe Peace and Unity Summit, scheduled to hold today, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Obowo Local Government Headquarters, Otoko.
The atmosphere in Obowo is charged with excitement and anticipation as dignitaries, stakeholders, and guests from across the six local government areas of Okigwe Zone arrive for the landmark event.
The summit aims to foster regional harmony, strengthen mutual understanding, promote socio-political cooperation among communities, and deepen alignment with the Imo State Government’s development vision.
Security operatives have been strategically stationed at major points of the local government, as well as around key public facilities. Personnel from the Imo State Police Command, alongside local vigilante groups and other security agencies, are on ground to ensure a smooth, safe, and incident-free event.
Several other stakeholders have joined the Executive Chairman of Obowo LGA, Hon. Barr. Obioma Johnson Ehirim, in welcoming distinguished guests from various local government areas within the zone.
The event, hosted by the Local Government Area, is expected to draw an impressive array of personalities including the Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Hon. Chief Cosmas Iwu, members of the Imo State Executive Council, traditional rulers (Ndi Eze), youth leaders, political figures, and other critical stakeholders committed to peace and progress in Okigwe Zone.
The Okigwe Peace and Unity Summit is positioned around strengthening peace, promoting dialogue, and uniting the people of Okigwe Zone under a shared vision of progress and prosperity.
The Executive Chairman of Obowo Hon. Barr. Obioma Ehirim praised Governor Uzodimma for creating an enabling environment for unity and dialogue in Okigwe Zone, noting that the Governor’s leadership has rekindled faith in governance and encouraged stronger collaboration among local governments.
> “This summit is a reflection of the Governor’s visionary leadership and commitment to a peaceful, progressive Imo,” Hon. Ehirim was quoted as saying while receiving guests at the LGA headquarters.
Critical Observers believe the summit will serve as a vital platform for deepening unity among political leaders, traditional institutions, women and youth groups — setting a new tone for collaboration and sustainable development within the zone.

Man in shock after lady he lodged with in a hotel in Abuja flees with his car and other valuables
A Nigerian man is currently in shock after a young lady identified as Precious Chinyere , whom he took to a hotel in the Asokoro area in the FCT for a romantic getaway allegedly fled with his car and other personal belongings on Thursday, February 5,
The distraught man and Precious had visited the hotel and opted for a short time stay. Things took a different in the evening when the man noticed Precious had left the hotel room without notifying him and took along with her some of his personal belongings including phones and laptop and also his car.
The victim immediately reported the incident to the police.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, SP Josephine Adeh, told LIB that the matter is currently being investigated and that efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect.

US Reacts As De@th Toll In Kwara Terror Attacks Hits 200
The United States Mission in Nigeria has condemned the k!lling of more than 200 civilians in recent attacks on communities in Kwara State.
Recall that terrorists launched de@dly attacks on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday night, k!lling unsuspecting citizens.
It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the villages, opened fire on residents and burned homes.
According to reports, the de@th toll from the unfortunate incident hit 200 on Thursday night.
Reacting, the US Mission Nigeria condemned the k!lling via a post on its official X handle.
The post reads, “The United States condemns the horrific attack in Kwara state in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of more than 160 people, with the de@th toll still unconfirmed and many still unaccounted for.
“We express our deepest condolences to the families of those affected by this senseless violence.
“We welcome President Tinubu’s order to deploy security forces to protect villages in the area and his directive to federal and state officials to provide aid to the community and bring the perpetrators of this atrocity to justice.”
