A perceived controversial Court Order to exhume the body of Late Chief Ifeanyichukwu Dona Amuchienwa in Suit number inSuit No: HMI/144/ 2025 issued by Imo State Acting Chief Judge, His Lordship,   Justice Ijeoma Agugua, that  favoured dully divorced wife of the deceased, Mrs Chinyere Igwebe against the legally married wife  Barr.Mrs Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa, has stired up anger with serious reactions in the hearts of Imo residents.

The Order of the Acting Chief Judge is generally viewed by observers and analysts as a ticket to the dully divorced wife for continuous molestation, tormenting and suppression of the legally married wife of late Chief Ifeanyichukwu Dona Amuchienwa.

Credible sources from the family disclosed that Late Chief Ifeanyichukwu Dona Amuchienwa  traditionally  sacked Mrs Chinyere Igwebe, by returning drink on her head as Igbo Culture and Tradition demand in regard to rejecting or sacking a married woman.

Imo people who are highly displeased by the development has called  on Imo State First Lady, Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodimma  to quickly intervene in what they described as a mischievous move in order to stop the pains and agony the exhumation  may cause Barr. Mrs Ogechi Amuchienwa, someone seen and judged as a virtuous woman and a symbol of womanhood in all ramifications.

Village sources from Ishi Ubomiri, were Late Chief Ifeanyichukwu Dona Amuchienwa and his duly married wife Barr.Mrs Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa, hailed from, revealed to journalists that Chinyere Igwebe has the support of an influential personalities in the community who have been purportedly backing her  to contnously trouble Barr.Mrs Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa.

Another source from Ishi Ubomiri, Community, told reporters that the Traditional Ruler of the  community,His Royal Highness,Eze George Ekeh, suspended the Village head of Late   Chief Ifeanyichukwu Dona Amuchienwa,  Eugene Opara, Chairman of Umuawam Village Meeting, for disobeying his instruction not to attend the burial.

A palace source who confirmed this, also revealed that the monarch reportedly dropped a hint on the floor of the palace that there is already a Court Order for exhumation.

When the order finally came out as hinted by the monarch, observers wondered how he managed to know about it before it was issued by the Acting Chief Judge.

In the views of a journalist and public opinion analyst, Mr  James Nwosu, he called for urgent intervention by office of Imo State First Lady, Barr.Mrs Chioma Uzodimma to save a fellow woman from an influencial figure who believes and behaves as if she has monopoly of molestation against a helpless and innocent widow who has suffered a lot in taking care of her husband during the years he battled with sickness.

Expressing his views, another Imo State journalist, Mr Emeka Opara, he said; what I see is injustice, nepotism and conspiracy against the legally married wife of the deceased, Barr. Mrs Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa.

Is worthy to note that Late Mr Ifeanyichukwu Dona Amuchienwa, did a court wedding  with Mrs Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa to consolidate their union, this was few  years after he divorced Mrs Chinyere.

Mr Chris Emecheta, a  seasoned journalist, questioned; why the Chief Judge should give order  in a matter the clamant has no locus, saying; ‘I smell rat, are they dispensing justice or destroying justice, he questioned.

Many who are perturbed about the development, have expressed believed that the Order by the Acting Chief Judge  is an indirect approval and moves to inflict more pains on a helpless young widow who’s still mourning her late husband.

According to reports in public domain,  Imo State Acting Chief Judge,in a  High Court  in Suit No: HMI/144/ 2025 instituted by Barr Chidi Valentine Chilaka for Mrs. Chinyere Lilian  Igwebe, a divorced wife of the deceased for over 30 years, ordered  court to exhume the remains of  Late Chief Ifeanyichukwu Dona Amuchienwa an order many viewed as a miscarriage of Justice.

From a general perspective, the order is viewed  as controversial and  injustice against a mourning widow and the late husband, was allegedly influenced by Mrs Chinyere Igwebe  with her said links in the office of the Acting Chief Judge.

Those who are totally displeased with the judgement called it a mischievous open door for continous suppression and molestation of the widow.

Inside sources alleged that the  sacked wife  allegedly influenced the order as she was said to be jubilating few days before the day the Acting Chief Judge gave the order.

Many that expressed displeasure and questioned the order said the Acting Chief Judge who’s is also a woman should have considered the manner former Mrs Chinyere Amuchienwa, was officially and traditionally divorced?, how she never showed any positive interest to help out in the man’s ill health when he was sick as well as during his burial before given order in such a sensitive matter.

Dependable family sources said when Late Chief Ifeanyichukwu Dona Amuchienwa,

was sick, Mrs Chinyere showed no interest in rendering any form of medical or financial help to him, when he later died after battling stroke and kidney failure, she did not also participate in his burial. She reportedly  instructed the two children, she gave birth for the man not to attend their late father’s burial and they  obeyed their mother.

From public perception, majority of Imo people  viewed the Court Order as a disrespect to the deceased, they have continuously questioned  the motive Mrs Chinyere who  instructed the  children  she gave birth for the man not to attend their father’s burial, suddenly went to court with such mischivious claim that is neither here nor there.

Recall that they had earlier gone to customary Court with same prayers but the court declined jurisdiction in the matter, citing that Barr Mrs Ogechi Henrietta Amuchienwa was duly married.

From available reports, there was no case of Homicide instituted against the family or any member of the Amuchienwa”s family before the burial, now the Acting Chief Judge has given the order, observers are asking ” is it who verses who?  The public has also questioned the exhumation  order  when abinitio there was no police case of Homicide.

According to  reports about the  said Chinyere published on cable news on July 8 2021 by Bolanle Olamitan by 19;52 pm, it read in parts’ however, in a new charge dated June 25 and marked CR/187/2021, the police accused Chinyere Amuchienwa of providing false information in her petition against Ohakim and his co-defendant.

In count two, Chinyere Amuchienwa is alleged to have lied that she gave Ohakim “the sum of N500 million for the purchase of a land in Lagos during the 2019 election”.

Count three of the charge  “That you, Chinyere Amuchienwa Igwegbe (f), of 7B, Emelda Estate, Apo, Abuja, FCT, between late 2017 and mid 2018 within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, intentionally exposed your genital organs and intentionally caused distress to other parties and that you did so with a selfie video with intention of deriving sexual pleasure from such act and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 26(3) of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015.”

“That you Chinyere Amuchienwa Igwegbe (F) of 7B Emelda Estate Apo, Abuja, FCT severally and repeatedly within the Jurisdiction of this honourable court, by spoken words and mechanical means which you intended to be read published directly and indirectly in the estimation of others, lowered the moral and intellectual character of (1) Dr Ikedi Ohakim (2) Chinedu Okpareke; that your words and actions were so loathsome and disgraceful that you hurt the feelings of their family and relatives, and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 392 of the Penal Code Laws of Northern Nigeria,” count four reads.

Other Imolites who spoke, urged her to desist from actions and inactions that breed tension and trouble in her former husband’s house as it was obvious that the man rejected her when he was alive.

He made this announcement during the 11th Federal Executive Council meeting of 2025 at the State House in Abuja.

The president instructed the Minister of Interior to coordinate with the Inspector General of Police and the Civil Defence to ensure a smooth transition so that officials remain protected.

He stressed that NSCDC personnel are capable of taking on VIP protection roles and called for the urgent arming and effective deployment of forest guards.

His words: “I honestly believe in what I said and I call on the IGP and I hope the Minister of Police Affairs is here, if you have any problem of security because of the nature of assignment, please contact the IGP and get my clearance.

“The Minister of Interior should liaise with IGP and Civil Defence structure to replace those police officers, who are on special security duties. So that you don’t leave people exposed.

“NSA and DSS to provide further information and form themselves the committee and review the structure.”

According to Tinubu, the move is part of broader efforts to address kidnapping and terrorism in the country.

He said the government must make full use of all available security forces to tackle these threats.

In addition, the president urged state governors to rehabilitate or designate specific communities as livestock settlements.

He said this would reduce conflicts between farmers and herders while creating economic opportunities.

Tinubu added that the National Economic Council already has a framework for livestock reform, and states can use available land to establish ranches and livestock villages to ensure peace and development.

Fraudster Arrested For ID Theft Offers Victim N10Million To ‘Sell Her BVN’ In Osun

Published

on

Authorities in Osun State have uncovered a major identity-theft ring after fraudsters, accused of stealing the BVN and NIN of local businesswoman Mrs. Fadahunsi Janet Gbemisola, allegedly tried to bribe her to “overlook” the compromise of her BVN.

The case has raised serious concerns over banking security, police integrity, and a nationwide data breach involving more than 150 Nigerians.

Mrs. Fadahunsi, who spoke to SaharaReporters on Monday, said the ordeal began on November 28, 2024, when she lost her phone in transit. The device contained her OPay and Palmpay SIM cards.

“I tried calling the phone, but it wasn’t picked,” she recalled. “By the following morning, it had been switched off, so I reported the matter to the police.”

Days later, she was locked out of her OPay account. According to her, Opay officials informed her that the breach originated from MoniePoint Microfinance Bank, even though she had never opened an account with the institution.

When she visited MoniePoint, staff presented her with an account profile, 8028946149, bearing her full name, BVN, NIN, and photograph. The only mismatched details were the address and phone number used to open the account.

“The officer told me I cannot deny the account because my picture and name were there,” she said. “I was shocked because I had never opened any MoniePoint account in my life.”

She later obtained a court order from the Chief Magistrate Court, Ejigbo (MEJ/M4/25) directing MoniePoint, GTBank, Opay, and Palmpay to lift restrictions placed on her BVN. Despite serving all institutions, she said MoniePoint denied ownership of the same account.

Frustrated, she went to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Osogbo, where officials reviewed MoniePoint’s submission and confirmed that her BVN and NIN had indeed been used to open the fraudulent account.

“They showed me the form. My picture was there, my BVN was there, my NIN was there,” she said. “But the address and signature were not mine.”

According to her, CBN officials told her plainly that “until you find the person who used your identity, you cannot defend yourself.”

Confronted with the daunting task of tracking down the fraudster and with funds received from family members to bury a loved one frozen in her accounts, she sought help from the police.

Following a petition at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo, investigators traced the suspect, identified as Calistus Obi, to the Lagos–Ogun border and arrested him on March 28, 2025.

During investigation, the Police Monitoring Unit at Osogbo were able to recover from the suspect “67 SIM cards, multiple phones and evidence of over 150 identities, including BVN and NIN records, allegedly used to open MoniePoint accounts for their international syndicated fraudsters were discovered.”

During interrogation before the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Fadahunsi said the suspect admitted he was working with a man called “Mike” based in China.

“He told the CP that he sends the MoniePoint accounts to the man in China and gets a percentage,” she narrated. “The CP asked him, ‘So you have sold Nigerian people to China because of money?’”

After his arrest, the suspect’s associates allegedly approached both the police and the victim with cash offers to bury the case.

“They called me and said I should say how much I want to forget my BVN,” Mrs. Fadahunsi said. “They offered up to ₦10 million. I refused.”

She also said an influential figure from Lagos contacted the police monitoring unit handling the case and asked them to collect ₦500,000 to release the suspect, but the officers declined.

Lamenting fraudsters in the Nigeria Police Force, she explained that shortly after rejecting the bribe, senior officers from Abuja ordered the Osun State Command to transferred the case to Force Headquarters with immediate effects.

“Unfortunately, the case file was transferred to Force Headquarters Cybercrime unit. When I got to Abuja, they told me the suspect had been released on bail,” she said.

“They suddenly claimed he was not the person who opened the MoniePoint account.”

Her new IPO reportedly told Mrs. Fadahunsi that “until we find the real person, you cannot use your BVN.”

She said investigators in Abuja dismissed the earlier evidence that linked the suspect directly to the phone number used to open the fraudulent MoniePoint account.

According to Mrs. Fadahunsi, attempts by her lawyer to follow up with police in Abuja were met with hostility.

“The IPO told my lawyer, ‘You said you want to write petition against me; go and write it,’ and he dropped the call,” she said.

She added that the released suspect later visited Osun CID, attempting to reclaim his confiscated SIM cards and phones, though Osun officers refused as at the last time she visited.

Months after court orders, petitions, and repeated visits to police and regulators, Mrs. Fadahunsi’s BVN remains blocked. Her GTBank, Opay, and Palmpay accounts are inaccessible.

“I cannot do business. I cannot even open another account,” she said. “My whole life is on hold.”

Growing Concern Over National Data Breach

The case has raised alarms about a massive BVN and NIN breach used to create fraudulent MoniePoint accounts allegedly used to receive funds from across the world.

With at least 150 Nigerians’ identities compromised, the incident signals a potential national security threat.

“This is not just my problem,” she said. “It means anyone in Nigeria can lose their identity and the system will blame them.”

When SaharaReporters contacted the Osun State Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi Zechariah, he said he was not aware of the case but requested for the copy of the petition of the woman.
