South-East crisis: Nnamdi Kanu never rejected Okorocha’s call for dialogue – Brother
Prince Emmanuel Kanu has refuted reports that leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, rejected moves by ex-Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, to resolve the crisis in the South-East through dialogue.
Reports circulating on the social media claim that Kanu snubbed efforts made by Okorocha to address the insecurity in the region, particularly concerning enforcement of the Monday sit-at-home order.
The reports suggested that if Kanu had embraced the intervention initiated by Okorocha, the insecurity in the South-East would have been resolved peacefully. The reports equally claimed that Kanu would not have been arrested, detained and prosecuted, if he had not snubbed Okorocha’s efforts.
However, Prince Emmanuel, Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, has described the reports as false, misleading and baseless.
He noted that while there may have been differences in opinion between Kanu and Okorocha, such differences do not amount to rejection of dialogue.
Prince Emmanuel insisted that the IPOB leader has always been open to sincere conversations aimed at addressing the complex political and security challenges in the South-East region.
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has never snubbed former governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
“Regardless of any perceived differences, both figures recognized the value of dialogue in addressing the South-East region’s complex issues,” Prince Emmanuel said on Sunday.
He dismissed attempts to portray the IPOB leader as unwilling to engage in dialogue, describing the moves as “inaccurate and far from the truth”.
According to him, peaceful engagement remains critical to finding lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the South-East.

ICPC summons Dangote over petition against ex-NMDPRA boss
The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission, ICPC, has asked Aliko Dangote to appear before a panel of investigators on Monday in Abuja over a petition written by him.
Dangote had written a petition against Farouk Ahmed, former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, over alleged corruption.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, said a source in the Commission, who confirmed the development on Sunday in Abuja, stated that ICPC had set up a panel of investigators to handle the probe.
According to the source, the Commission’s Chairman, Dr Musa Aliyu, SAN, has also asked the team to focus on Dangote’s petition.
The oil magnate is expected to appear or send his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja, SAN, with his evidence, when ICPC’s investigation of the petition formally commences.
Dangote had accused Farouk Ahmed of corruption and misappropriation of funds, including spending millions of dollars on his four children’s education in expensive and exclusive schools in Switzerland.
He also alleged that Ahmed undermined domestic refining by colluding with international traders and oil importers through the continued issuance of import licences.
The ICPC has asked Dangote to submit his evidence to the anti-graft agency.
Farouk Ahmed has since resigned his appointment, but the Commission said it is going ahead with the investigation, stating that his resignation does not affect the probe.
The petition alleges that Ahmed spent, without evidence of lawful means of income, sums amounting to over seven million dollars for the education of his four children in Switzerland.
Dangote is demanding the arrest, investigation, and prosecution of Farouk Ahmed for allegedly living above his means as a public servant.
The Commission’s spokesperson, John Okor Odey, confirmed that the ICPC received a formal petition on December 16, 2025, from Dangote, through his lawyer, against the former CEO of the NMDPRA.

Nnamdi Kanu’s release might be possible if his health and other legal matters are managed appropriately- Primate Elijah Ayodele
Primate Elijah Ayodele discussed Nnamdi Kanu’s situation, who received a life sentence after being convicted, in a Facebook video that gained significant attention on December 20, 2025. Ayodele cautioned the political activist about the importance of taking care of his health while incarcerated, as it would play a critical role in the coming months.
He stated, “He should prioritize his health; his release will be negotiable,” implying that Kanu’s release might be possible if his health and other legal matters are managed appropriately.
Ayodele remarked that Kanu’s situation is complex, and any potential release will be influenced by political and legal factors. He emphasized that Kanu needs to maintain both physical and mental well-being to navigate the challenges ahead.
He expressed concern that mismanagement of Kanu’s health could hinder ongoing negotiations or delay positive outcomes related to his case.
Ayodele concluded by stressing that both the government and Kanu’s supporters should monitor his health closely, highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant and self-disciplined during this period to overcome future challenges.
