PRP Calls For Tinubu’s Impeachment If Linked To Alleged Tax Law Manipulation
In a press statement issued on Monday, and signed by its National chairman, Falalu Bello, the opposition party accused the executive arm of government of tampering with tax bills after they had been approved by lawmakers, describing the alleged actions as a serious threat to constitutional order.
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has called for the immediate suspension of Nigeria’s recently enacted tax laws and warned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should face impeachment if found culpable in what it described as unlawful alterations to legislation passed by the National Assembly.
In a press statement issued on Monday, and signed by its National chairman, Falalu Bello, the opposition party accused the executive arm of government of tampering with tax bills after they had been approved by lawmakers, describing the alleged actions as a serious threat to constitutional order.
PRP said, “The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) is deeply alarmed and condemns the blatant executive misconduct and flagrant disregard for constitutional sovereignty exhibited by the current administration in the recent manipulation of Nigeria’s tax laws.”
The party referenced claims by a member of the House of Representatives that bills were altered without legislative consent, stating that the disclosure “showed that the executive arm has clandestinely altered bills after passage by the National Assembly without legislative approval.”
The PRP described the alleged conduct as “a dangerous pattern of executive impunity that threatens the very foundations of Nigeria’s democracy and due process.”
“This audacious act of executive dishonesty, characterized by the insertion, deletion, and modification of substantive provisions post-passage legislation, underscores a reckless disdain for the rule of law, separation of powers, and the constitutional order,” the party said.
Condemning the actions as illegal, the party said, “The PRP condemns this act as not only illegal but as a direct attack on the independence of the legislature and the constitutional rights of Nigerians to transparent and accountable governance.”
The PRP called for an investigation into the matter, urging authorities to identify those responsible.
“In light of these grave developments, the PRP calls for a comprehensive and transparent investigation of these alterations and additions to the already passed Act of Parliament to identify and punish all those responsible for this egregious misconduct,” it said.
The party also raised the possibility of impeachment proceedings against the president if evidence links him to the alleged manipulation.
“If evidence emerges implicating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in these illegal manipulations, the PRP calls for his impeachment without delay. No individual, including the President, should be above the law,” it said.
Central to its demands, the PRP insisted on halting the enforcement of the tax laws, saying, “Furthermore, we demand the immediate suspension of the implementation of the disputed tax laws until all discrepancies, particularly the conflicts between the laws passed by the National Assembly and those gazette, are thoroughly examined, resolved, and rectified.”
The party warned it would seek legal action if the issue is not addressed, noting, “Should this matter not be addressed promptly, the PRP will have no choice but to seek judicial intervention.”
Emphasizing the broader implications, the PRP said, “The PRP emphasizes that the rule of law and constitutional integrity must take precedence. Until these issues are resolved, the suspension of the tax laws is imperative to prevent further damage to Nigeria’s democratic fabric and economic stability.”
The statement called on Nigerians and institutions to resist what it described as constitutional violations, declaring, “The PRP affirms that no government, regardless of political inclination, is above the law.”

US offers undocumented migrants $3,000 for voluntary deportation
The United States Department of Homeland Security has announced a limited-time incentive aimed at encouraging undocumented migrants to voluntarily leave the country during the holiday season.
In a statement released on its website on Monday, DHS said undocumented migrants who register to self-deport through the CBP Home app by the end of the year will receive a $3,000 stipend, in addition to a free flight to their home country.
The department said participants in the programme would also qualify for the forgiveness of any civil fines or penalties related to failure to depart the United States.
According to DHS, since January 2025, about 1.9 million undocumented migrants have voluntarily left the country, with tens of thousands using the CBP Home program.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the incentive had been temporarily increased during the Christmas season.
“Since January 2025, 1.9 million illegal aliens have voluntarily self-deported, and tens of thousands have used the CBP Home program.
“During the Christmas season, the US taxpayer is so generously tripling the incentive to leave voluntarily for those in this country illegally—offering a $3,000 exit bonus, but just until the end of the year,” Noem said.
“Illegal aliens should take advantage of this gift and self-deport because if they don’t, we will find them, we will arrest them, and they will never return,” she added.
Guided by a Donald Trump presidential proclamation, Homeland Security established “Project Homecoming” in May 2025.
“The American people are generously offering illegal aliens $1,000 and a free flight to self-deport now,” it announced. To pay for the flights and “exit bonuses,” the State Department repurposed $250 million intended to help resettle refugees.
The department described self-deportation through the CBP Home app as a fast and free process, requiring individuals to download the app and submit their information, after which DHS would arrange and cover the cost of travel.
DHS warned that undocumented migrants who fail to take advantage of the offer would face arrest and deportation, with permanent restrictions on re-entry into the United States.

Breaking News: Pastor Okafor Knelt down To Beg Actress Doris Ogala For Peace
The Nigeria Police Force has released Nollywood actress Doris Ogala in Lagos after rearresting her in Abuja shortly following her bail, SaharaReporters has learned.
Ogala was brought to Lagos by a police team from the Zone 2 Command.
The incident reportedly escalated when Ogala’s lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, attempted to document the police’s actions.
Sources said officers violently attacked Abubakar, seized his phones, and accompanied him and Ogala on a flight to Lagos.
SaharaReporters learnt that a Take It Back Movement Coordinator, Jamiu Towolawi, aka Jharmo, secured te actress’ release by getting ger bailed.
Following her release, Pastor Chris Okafor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries (also known as Grace Nation Liberation City) met with the actress and urged her to allow peace to prevail. SaharaReporters learned that Okafor appealed for reconciliation and pleaded for an end to further hostilities.
“Today, a Take It Back leader, Jamiu Towolawi, aka Jharmo, arrived at the Zone 2 command to demand Ogala’s immediate release,” a source privy to the information told SaharaReporters.
“Dramatically, Pastor Chris Okafor who was at the centre of her arrest and controversy arrived at Onikan and pleaded with her to allow peace to reign. It was obvious her arrest was instigated to bully her and upon seeing she is refusing to back down, the pastor fell flat on his knees and begged.
“The pastor spent close to an hour in a closed-door meeting with Ms. Ogala in private. They met in a secluded space devoid of third parties. After their peace meeting, the police released her to go on ‘health grounds’, with Jharmo serving as surety.”
“The police also released the two phones they had seized to Marshal Abubakar and the actress, asking that the arrest video should be deleted as they couldn’t access the phones. But the TIB coordinator rejected the condition. And police later let Ogala leave,” the source added.

“Don’t stay celibate, it ruined my dating life” — lady sparks debate with emotional confession
A lady has stirred heavy reactions online after sharing a deeply personal warning about celibacy and how it affected her relationships.
According to her, she chose to stay celibate for over a year after experiencing repeated heartbreaks and breakups, believing it would help her heal emotionally and grow spiritually. However, she now says the decision left her feeling disconnected, suspicious, and emotionally closed off in her dating life.
She explained that after the period of celibacy, she struggled to trust men, even when they appeared genuine. In her words, she constantly feels like men are trying to “use and dump” her, and she admits she no longer feels emotionally safe or open in relationships.
The lady also claimed that dating has become more difficult because, according to her experience, many people are unwilling to pursue a relationship without physical intimacy, which has left her stuck in cycles of talking stages and emotional confusion.
