Actress Miriam Ogbonna sparks debate over having children in the first year of marriage
Nollywood actress Miriam Ogbonna shared her thoughts on marriage and family planning, saying she doesn’t think it’s wise to have a child during the first year of marriage. According to her, the early months of marriage should be about getting to know your partner better, and bringing a child into the mix too soon could be overwhelming for a new union.
Her tweet sparked mixed reactions online. Some agreed, noting that a child in the first year can dramatically change your life, while others felt it depends on individual circumstances, like cultural expectations or personal goals. One married man added that unless couples have lived together for at least a year, it’s better to spend the first year focusing on each other before welcoming a child.
