Afrobeats artist Davido is celebrating his wife’s birthday in Jamaica, but he’s also making time to feud with Come Closer act WizKid.
The Nigerian superstars have been throwing jabs on X since Monday when WizKid posted a previously leaked video of Davido on his knees begging an alleged lover. The context was a slew of fan requests for new music, to which WizKid asserted that fans would have to grovel as passionately for him to release new material. Davido caught wind of the post after landing at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James.
“Dem no know ur gbedu (music) again,” the Unavailable hitmaker wrote in a series of posts that questioned WizKid’s relevance. The latter didn’t back down.
“U and all ur crew plus ur pant washer song writer go to sleep at night thinking you actually got anything on me in music,” WizKid wrote. “Wish u all well.”
He continued, “U know what..no point. delusional ni**as. Pray for y’all.”
Between sharing video clips of his wife, Chioma, dancing with joy upon arriving at their villa, Davido clapped back at his contemporary.
“WE NOT DELUSIONAL YOU’RE A SICK MAN,” he wrote before calling WizKid a has-been.
“Exactly why I stopped wasting my clout and jeopardizing my millions of usd of endorsements on someone whose career was resurrected a few years ago just to die again. NEXT!!”
Peace between the heavyweights has been short-lived over the years. In 2017, WizKid settled murmur of any discontent by inviting Davido on stage during a Lagos, Nigeria, concert. The men proceeded to perform Davido’s hit FIA to the screaming delight of fans.
However, the entertainers seemingly stopped communicating as Davido would later reveal that it was after the passing of his son in 2022, that they started speaking again. WizKid paid tribute to the child, who reportedly died from drowning, during a US concert, but was also consoling his peer behind the scenes.
“With Wiz, over the years, 12 years we had a rift…up until recently that we chopped it up and I’ve seen positivity,” Davido shared in a 2023 Hot 97 interview. “I’ve seen the change in the industry a little bit because everybody is calming down, especially with my situation, the tragic situation that happened. He damn near called me every week since it happened.”
That year, WizKid had even announced that the two would be going on tour together, but that feels distant with the latest dust-up.
WizKid continued to troll Davido on Tuesday by reposting the leaked video, while Davido opted for more jabs and musical challenges.
“I have hits!! He don’t!! Tell him lets drop Friday together!! If dem born him well he should drop Im ready!! I got 80 hits in the can ready!! Ayo please!!! Activate me!! No ft!! Solo short b*tch!!
Meanwhile, producer Skatta Burrell is displeased about the brewing beef, raising its counterproductivity to afrobeats’ collaborative undertone.
“This won’t end well,” Burrell commented on a Shaderoom post. “This genre of music excelled because of the happiness and togetherness it brings.”
Some users pushed back by telling Burrell to focus on issues within dancehall and reggae, to which he responded, “I have my opinion and you either love it or you don’t.”
As users continue to insert their opinions, Davido is sharing photos of his time in Jamaica, most notably in a birthday tribute to Chioma.
“Happy birthday to my Queen!!!” the Fall singer exclaimed in an Instagram post. “Your strength and grace lift me every day! Thank you for always being my rock and helping me shut out all the noise with your love. Heres to more joy, laughter, and sweeeet music in our lives. I love you and It’s till infinity!!!”

Nollywood actor Aremu Afolayan has apologized to Nigerians and announced his decision to step away from politics after facing heavy backlash over his recent comments.

The actor shared a message on social media where he asked Nigerians for forgiveness over the reactions that followed his earlier statements.

He said the criticism directed at him had become overwhelming and also denied claims that he received money from any individual or group.

Afolayan also tried to clear the air on his comments about insecurity in the country. He explained that he did not deny the existence of security challenges but was misunderstood.

According to him, the issue is real, and he even referred to a personal experience involving someone close to him who was kidnapped, with ransom paid for release.

Following the controversy, he said he no longer wants to be involved in political matters, stating clearly that he is withdrawing from anything related to politics.

He said: “To all Nigerians, please forgive me. I’m very sorry. The curse you guys are raining on me is too much. I didn’t take money from anyone.

“It’s obvious that there’s insecurity and the government isn’t doing anything; what I was trying to say is don’t answer anyone who is saying there’s no insecurity.

“My best friend’s mother was kidnapped and we paid ransom; how would I say there’s no insecurity? I’m withdrawing myself from anything that has to do with politics.”

The development comes shortly after the actor publicly showed support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.

In the video, he downplayed the hardship many Nigerians are facing and spoke in favour of the president’s efforts.

His comments led to strong reactions online, with many Nigerians criticising his position.
