In compliance with the directive of the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, directing all Local Government Council Chairmen across the state to formally hand over the administration of their respective councils to their Directors of Administration and General Services (DAGS), the Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, *Bldr. Chidiebere Emeribe*, has officially handed over the affairs of the Council to the DAGS.
The formal handover took place at the Council Secretariat, Owerri, marking the conclusion of Bldr. Emeribe’s tenure as the Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council.
During the handover, the DAGS expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Mayor for his professionalism, leadership and cooperation throughout the period she worked under his administration. She described Bldr. Emeribe as a leader who provided a conducive working environment and demonstrated a strong commitment to the effective administration of the Council.
She particularly commended his approach to governance, noting that his professionalism and respect for due process made it easier for the administrative machinery of the Council to function effectively during his tenure.
Also present at the occasion was the Treasurer of Owerri Municipal Council, who equally eulogized the outgoing Mayor for his contributions to the development and administration of the Council. The Treasurer commended Bldr. Emeribe for his leadership, accessibility and commitment to the welfare of the Council and its workforce.
The Treasurer wished the outgoing Mayor success, greater opportunities and God’s continued guidance in his future endeavours, while appreciating him for the cordial relationship he maintained with the Council’s management and staff.
In his remarks, Bldr. Chidiebere Emeribe thanked God Almighty for all he has done in his life. He expressed profound joy to the governor *Sen. Hope Uzodimma* who gave him the opportunity to serve his people and prayed the good Lord to keep directing and protecting our God sent governor. He equally thanked the DAGS, Treasurer and entire workforce of Owerri Municipal Council for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure. He expressed confidence in their ability to sustain the smooth administration of the Council and urged them to continue to uphold professionalism, accountability and dedication to public service.
He thanked the good people of Owerri Municipal Council for their cooperation, understanding and support throughout his tenure and reaffirmed his dedication to their welfare despite the fact that he is leaving office.
The handover was conducted peacefully and in an atmosphere of emotions and farewell, in line with the directive of the Executive Governor of Imo State.
Bldr. Chidiebere Emeribe leaves office with appreciation from the management and staff of Owerri Municipal Council, who wished him well as he proceeds to the next chapter of his public service journey.
