Man arrested for luring and k+lling a KEDCO staff to avoid repaying the N3m he deceitfully collected from him in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has made significant progress in the investigation of the abduction and culpable homicide of Bello Bukar Adam, a Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) staff member.

The incident, which occurred on the 4th of May, sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents on edge. According to a press release issued by the Kano State Police Command on Thursday, the victim, Bello Bukar Adam, 45, had left his home in Zawaciki Housing Estate, Kano, with his Toyota Corolla motor vehicle, only to disappear without a trace.

However, on the evening of the same day, a male adult’s lifel£ss body was discovered abandoned on the outskirts of the Eastern Bypass, near Bechi Village in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state. Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, swiftly mobilised a team of detectives led by Aliyu Mohammed Auwal, the officer in charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, to apprehend the perpetrator(s) within 24 hours.

The team’s diligence paid off when they arrested Sadiq Zubairu, 35, on the 6th of May at 9:00 am. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, the suspect In a startling revelation, confessed to conspiring with two hefty men to lure the victim to his house under the pretense of securing a job offer.

The suspect had deceitfully collected N3 million Naira from late Bello to help him secure a better job. Upon realising he couldn’t fulfill his promise, the suspect resorted to v+olence, leading to the tragic d£ath of Bello Bukar Adam. The PPTO, quoted the suspect as saying, “He tied him up, h+t him with sticks and sharp iron on his head and other parts of his body until he became motionless.”

Sadiq further confessed to disposing of the victim’s body along the Eastern Bypass and st£aling his motor vehicle and mobile phone.

35 Nigerians deported from Ireland

At least 35 Nigerians have been deported from the Republic of Ireland.

The number includes five children.

They were all flown to Nigeria in a chartered flight that left the Dublin Airport on Wednesday night.

According to the Irish Mirror, the number is made up of 21 men, nine women, and five children.

They have landed in Nigeria on Thursday.

Irish Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, said he was “happy to say” that all of them have returned to Nigeria despite an unscheduled stopover due to a medical incident on board.

Although the Irish government did not give a specific reason for the deportation of the Nigerian nationals, O’Callaghan explained that, “Ireland has a rules-based immigration system.

“It is important that those rules are robust and enforced.”

Man dies after jumping into well under influence of hard drugs in Kwara

The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the lifeless body of a 43-year-old man, simply identified as Kazeem, from a domestic well in Ilorin, the state capital.

The lifeless body was recovered from a domestic well at Ile Alapo, Edun area of Ilorin metropolis, according to a statement by the spokesman of the fire service, Hassan Adekunle, in Ilorin on Saturday.

He disclosed that “the distress call was received by the fire service control room at about 10:29 hours, reporting that a man had fallen into a well”.

“Firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene, where they successfully recovered the body from the well.

“The victim, identified as Kazeem, reportedly jumped into the well under the influence of a hard substance known as Colo (Colorado) shortly after returning from Eid prayers on Friday.”

The statement said the body was handed over to Inspector Babatunde Amos of the ‘C’ Division Police Station, Ilorin. The police awaits formal identification and claim of the body by the victim’s family.

Director of the state fire service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed deep sadness over the incident and admonished residents of the state to stay away from drug abuse, warning that such acts often lead to tragic outcomes.
