Burna Boy, the Nigerian singer and Grammy Award winner, has taken a subtle jab at fellow artist Davido amid his ongoing legal battle with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, over their child custody saga.

The tension began when a social media user urged Burna Boy to consider marriage, referencing Davido’s recent wedding to his longtime girlfriend, Chioma, and his custody dispute with Sophia.

In response, Burna Boy made a series of pointed comments, seemingly praising himself for not being involved in any baby mama saga.

When asked to follow Davido’s example and settle down, Burna Boy replied, “Baba make I just dey as I dey abeg, u nor see wetin him dey face like dis?”

The conversation escalated further when Burna Boy was asked if he considered Adekunle Gold a better role model.

He agreed, stating, “Ehen Na wetin we dey pray for be that bros,” expressing his admiration for the relationship between Adekunle Gold and his singer wife, Simi. This implies that Burna Boy sees Adekunle Gold’s marriage as a better example compared to Davido’s ongoing custody issues.

Angelique Kidjo

Grammy-Award winning Beninese artist, Angelique Kidjo, has opened up on her choice to not make music for politicians.

While speaking on the Female Poets Society podcast, Kidjo explained the reason behind her choice, stating that some songs lose relevance after regime change.

She further explained that her decision came from an advice her father gave to her, noting that political songs are often time bound.

“My father always used to say to us, especially to me as a singer, do not write music for any political party because they come and they go. And once they’re gone, you go with it. Write your music with your opinions, be free writing your music. Don’t be sold to somebody because therefore, you don’t become the voice of the people anymore. You become the voice of the power. And when that power shifted, you’re off the window,” she stated.

Dear Fellow Nigerians, 🇳🇬
Please, for once, let us be serious about this matter.
This is not a story to scroll past or dismiss.
It is a real-life tragedy: involving
👉🏽 child marriage
👉🏽 domestic violence
👉🏽 gross humiliation
👉🏽 unlawful detention
👉🏽 and the blatant abuse of human rights.
How can we, in good conscience, trivialize something so heartbreaking?
Even if our empathy is not on the table, can we at least show a sense of justice, compassion, and humanity?
Because Regina Daniels may have made mistakes as a child,
does that make her less deserving of justice or empathy?
No. She is human, and her pain is real.
Let us not lose our humanity in the face of another person’s suffering.
⚖️ Justice must never depend on who we like or dislike.
🤐 Silence in the face of abuse makes us complicit.
