Mexico has been plunged into widespread turmoil following the de@th of Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, widely known as “El Mencho”, the leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The Mexican Army confirmed that Oseguera and several of his top aides were k!lled during a coordinated military operation on Sunday, February 22, in the state of Jalisco.

The operation, designed to capture the notorious drug lord, triggered immediate and violent retaliation across multiple regions of the country.

Within hours of the announcement of El Mencho’s de@th, cartel fighters launched an aggressive and chaotic response. Armed groups set fire to vehicles, blocked highways with burning roadblocks, and clashed with security forces in at least six states, including Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, and Nayarit.

Major urban centres such as Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta were particularly affected as roads were rendered impassable and residents were urged to stay indoors for safety.

Footage circulating on social media showed dark plumes of smoke rising over Puerto Vallarta’s skyline, prompting fears among tourists and locals alike.

The immediate chaos spilled into major travel hubs. Videos shared widely online showed panic among travellers at Guadalajara International Airport, with people fleeing or seeking cover after reports of nearby gunfire and cartel activity. Airlines, including Air Canada, United Airlines, Aeromexico, and American Airlines, suspended flights to and from Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara as a safety precaution.

A 99-year-old woman, Mrs. Sarah Nwanyisunday Oparaocha, from Etitinabu Na Ndagbo in Afaraukwu, Abia State, has appealed to the Federal Government to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Speaking to journalists at her residence in Afaraukwu, Kanu’s hometown, the elderly woman expressed her heartfelt desire to see him return home while she is still alive.

According to her, it would be a great personal fulfillment to witness his presence in the community again.

Her appeal coincided with a meeting reportedly held by members of the community, who also called for Kanu’s release.

Addressing reporters in Igbo, laced with proverbs, Mrs. Oparaocha said she prays daily for God to touch the hearts of Nigeria’s leaders to allow Kanu reunite with his people.

She said :

“I will soon clock 100 years. I weep every morning during my prayers because of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“I am pleading with the Nigerian government to release him so I can see him before God calls me.

“I am now 99 years old and will soon be 100 years but my prayers now is to see Nnamdi Kanu with my eyes before God will eventually call me.

“Nobody knows when God will call but I will be happy if I see Kanu before that time,” she said.

Nigerian designer shot to de@th in Brooklyn nightclub after tussle with gunman for gr0ping his girlfriend

A Nigerian aspiring fashion designer was fatally sh0t in the head at a Brooklyn nightclub after a tussle with a drunk man who reportedly gr0ped his girlfriend.

Sheriff Shittu, 30, was k!lled when a gunman opened fire inside Quilox Restaurant and Lounge in East Flatbush on Church Ave. near 95th St. at about 4:25 a.m. Saturday, cops said.

According to NYDailyNews, Shittu was accompanied to the club by his younger brother, Fawaz Shittu, to celebrate a friend’s birthday a day before their mother was due to arrive for a visit from Nigeria.

“I was screaming his name,” Fawaz said, recalling the aftermath of the shooting that k!lled his brother. “I was trying to wake him up.”

Sheriff got into a tussle with his k!ller after the stranger started drunkenly groping women, including the victim’s girlfriend, according to Fawaz.

The brothers left the club just 45 minutes after arriving, turned off by the disturbance, the brother said. But they returned minutes later after realizing Sheriff had left his cell phone behind.

When they returned, the drunk was being escorted out, and the club’s owner tried to convince the brothers to stay, Fawaz said.

“The owner was saying, ‘Don’t mind that person — he’s a crazy guy’,” Fawaz recounted. “A few seconds later, I heard ‘pow,’ and I looked down, and I saw my brother.”

A bartender rushed to perform CPR on Sheriff, who lay motionless on the floor, Fawaz said.

The gunman ran off and has not been caught.

“He was able to escape,” Fawaz said of the killer. “I don’t know how that happened or how he got the gun in the club. Security didn’t do its job. They didn’t search. You’re supposed to check people and their bags.”

Medics rushed Sheriff to Brookdale University Hospital, where he later d!ed, police said. But the victim’s family has kept him on life support, hoping for a miracle.

“He has been pronounced dead, but we’re still hoping,” said Salem Shittu, 24, another of the victim’s brothers. “We’re holding out with our faith in God.”

“He was a very sweet person, very outgoing,” Salem added. “He was protective of his family, his friends and his loved ones.”

Church Expels New Bride Who Refused to ‘workout’ with her husband as Pastor Calls Her Dem%n

An Abuja-based church, Holiness Revival Movement Worldwide, has expelled Oyiza, a newly married woman, after she allegedly refused to consummate her marriage with her husband, Isaac. The couple, from Ibadan, completed traditional rites in Okene, Kogi State, and a court wedding in Ibadan on September 6, 2025.

The marriage reportedly ran into trouble shortly after the ceremony as Oyiza insisted she did not love Isaac and accused her mother of forcing her into the union. Mediation by both families and church leaders allegedly failed.

In a video, Pastor Paul Rika described Oyiza as a “d£mon” and announced her expulsion. “So, we have delivered her to Satan. We have expelled, excommunicated her. You want to bring sh@me, what do you mean that you don’t love Isaac?” he said, urging members to pray for her “destr¥ction.”

Isaac said Oyiza had consented initially but later expressed doubts and remained adamant after counselling. “She would tell me almost every time, ‘No love, no joy, no peace,’” he said, adding she accused him of attempted r@pe when he sought intimacy.

Despite repeated interventions, Oyiza refused to reconcile, prompting the church to take disciplinary action.
