If your hand burns, no be me burn am. Leave Rivers alone- Nyesom Wike warns APC national secretary, Ajibola Basiru
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike, has warned the National Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Ajibola Basiru, to steer clear of Rivers State politics, cautioning him against making careless and provocative statements about the state.
Wike who is the immediate past governor of the state, issued the warning during his thank-you visit to Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State on Monday, January 5. While speaking to his supporters, Wike alleged that some political actors are now speaking recklessly about the politics in the state because of the N600 billion reportedly left in the state’s coffers.
Wike’s comment comes after Basiru condemned the APC Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, who at a public fora, referred to Governor Fubara as “the so-called Governor”. Giadom was also quoted as saying that Fubara could not secure a second term in office without going through Wike.
Reacting to Giadom’s remarks, Basiru in a post shared on Facebook, described Giadom’s comment as unfortunate, insisting that the office of the governor deserved respect regardless of political differences.
‘’I find it unfortunate that a member of the NWC, who is the Vice Chairman of the South-South zone of the APC, was referring to a governor in our party as a ‘so-called governor of Rivers State’. No matter what his allegiances are to anybody, it is unbecoming of somebody holding such a sensitive position, and it should not be encouraged by anybody.’’
Wike appears displeased by Basiru’s comment and has fired back at him. He warned the APC national secretary to desist from meddling in Rivers State politics, declaring the state a “no-go area” for political interference.
He cautioned that those who failed to heed the warning could face serious consequences, urging Basiru to learn from the experiences of others who had attempted similar actions in the past.

Atiku, Tambuwal destroyed PDP – Fayose
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal destroyed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Fayose made this allegation on Friday while fielding questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television monitored by Ekwutosblog.
Atiku and Tambuwal destroyed PDP. Politics is not fair. Life itself is s not balanced.
“Everybody stands where they will be able to say the truth to Nigerians. I’m not contesting any election and I’m not asking anybody for favour.
“Let me quickly say this. I never knew this thing will ever happen between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
“I was sitting on the high table the day governor Fubara was sworn in and we were on the high table in Rivers. And I told Wike that I want to say one or two things to Fubara not to betray you.”

“I am not ready to join any political party now, I am still consulting, and once I am done with my consultation I will make a statement.”~~ George Moghalu
Labour Party chieftain and former Anambra State governorship candidate, George Moghalu, has said he is not ready to join any political party for now, stressing that he is still consulting widely before taking any decision.
Moghalu made this known during a media session with political correspondents at his residence, where he disclosed that discussions are ongoing ahead of a possible defection to another political party. The former APC member emphasized that any decision he eventually makes will be reached collectively, noting that he must also consult with those who left the APC alongside him.
“I am not ready to join any political party now. I am still consulting, and once I am done with my consultation, I will make a statement,” Moghalu said.
He also called on opposition leaders to be guided by principles and ideology, deepen internal democracy, uphold the rule of law, and place national interest above personal ambition as the country moves toward the 2027 general elections.
