Kaduna Pupils Learn In Collapsed Mud Classrooms As Parents, Community Cry for Help
There are no desks, no windows, and no qualified teachers available to facilitate learning.
Pupils of Local Government Education Authority Primary School (L.G.E.A) Primary School Mahanga in Danmahawayi Ward, Giwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State are learning in a collapsed muddy structure, which poses significant danger to their lives and future.
The school, built years ago by members of the community using mud blocks, has deteriorated beyond safe use. Several sections have caved in completely, while the remaining parts are overcrowded and structurally unsound.
There are no desks, no windows, and no qualified teachers available to facilitate learning.
According to a civic technology platform, Monitng, the children sit on bare floors inside roofless and broken classrooms, exposed to the elements and at constant risk of injury.
Despite multiple appeals to the state government, the school has received no form of rehabilitation or support.
The organisation said, “The community invested immense effort and resources to build this school, yet it has been largely abandoned despite the allocation of billions of naira in government funds.
“There is a noticeable absence of governmental support or presence, with no efforts to repair the collapsed sections or improve the infrastructure.
“The community has repeatedly sent letters requesting the construction of new block classrooms, but these pleas have gone unanswered.
“This neglect is not just a failure of infrastructure but a betrayal of the community’s trust and hard work, leaving them in a state of despair.”
The deteriorating condition of the school is affecting learning and placing pupils at risk. Parents say their children no longer feel safe and are losing interest in education.
According to the organisation, the absence of qualified teachers has further compounded the situation, leaving pupils without proper guidance or instruction.
The residents of Danmahawayi Ward are calling on Governor Uba Sani to take urgent steps by constructing new block classrooms, providing furniture, and deploying trained teachers to the school.
They warned that without immediate government intervention, the future of hundreds of children in the area would remain in jeopardy.
“The government must step in to salvage the education and future of these children, who represent the hope of Danmahawayi Ward,” the report said.
“No more delays immediate intervention is needed to restore faith and opportunity in this underserved community. The time to act is now, as every day in these conditions deepens the hardship faced by these young learners.”

Lady cries out after her brother was knocked down by keke on his way to early morning test at UniAbuja, faces possible leg amputation
A visibly distressed lady has cried out over a tragic accident involving her younger brother, a student of the University of Abuja.
According to her account, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when students were struggling to get to school for a test allegedly scheduled around 5 a.m.
She explained that while her brother and a coursemate were trying to cross the road in front of the University of Abuja, a commercial tricycle (keke), reportedly driving against traffic, knocked them down.
As of the time she shared the video, her brother was said to be unconscious and already being prepared for surgery. Doctors, she stated, described his condition as critical, adding that there was a possibility his leg might have to be amputated.
The lady further claimed that although the tricycle rider was arrested, there were moves to release him, and that the school authorities had not reached out or offered any form of support since the incident.
She also revealed that the hospital initially rejected her brother due to the seriousness of his condition before eventually admitting him, while medical bills continued to pile up beyond what she could afford.
