DETENTION BATTLE: B-LORD SEEKS FAST-TRACK BAIL IN ABUJA
The legal battle surrounding Nigerian cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus “B-Lord” Williams has taken a dramatic twist, as his lawyers move swiftly to secure his release from detention just days after his arraignment.
Following his appearance before the Federal High Court in Abuja on April 1, 2026, where he pleaded not guilty to a six-count charge bordering on cybercrime, impersonation, and fraud, Williams was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending trial. But his legal team is refusing to wait.
In a bold and urgent move, his counsel has written to the Chief Judge, demanding that his bail application be heard immediately by a vacation judge on April 8 or 9. According to the defence, the application—already filed and served—will be ready for hearing by that date, making any delay unjustified.
The charges against B-Lord stem from explosive allegations that he unlawfully used the identity and influence of social media activist VeryDarkMan to promote his business ventures. Prosecutors claim he falsely presented the activist as endorsing his platform, misled the public with fabricated promotions, and even created fake digital records, including a flight ticket bearing the activist’s name—all in a bid to gain financial advantage.
Despite the weight of the accusations, Williams has firmly denied all wrongdoing.
