The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, has called for the establishment of “power rangers” to protect the nation’s Power Infrastructures against vandals.

The minister said this at the passing out parade of 350 personnel second batch of Mining Marshall at the NSCDC Complex Sauka, Abuja on Friday, June 14.

He expressed concern over the incessant att@cks on Power Infrastructure across the country by vandals and terr%rists, stressing that no nation would develop without adequate investment in the power sector.

“I will speak with my brother, the Minister of Power, the rate of vandalism, of economic terrorism going on with our transmission lines, have to be looked into.

It is your job to make sure that no critical asset of government is destroyed and we are ready and I believe NSCDC is up to the task,” he said.

Urging the Commandant General of the NSCDC to set up a squad that would tackle power vandals, Tunji-Ojo said, “The next time I come here, I want to see my Power Rangers, I mean people that will protect our distribution lines, people that will protect our Gencos people that will protect every power sector.

It is not reasonable, it’s not acceptable for a country like Nigeria to spend billions of dollars on power infrastructure all for it to be vandalized no country grows or develops without the power sector so NSCDC it is time for you to play your part.

I have decided that the solution towards you accomplishing your mandate is sectorisation of your responsibility.”

When will this com to and end please??

Nigerian-Born Kemi Badenoch Becomes New Conservative Party Leader

In a controversial move, Guinea’s junta leader has promoted himself to the rank of army general, reinforcing his authority within the nation’s military hierarchy.

Guinea’s junta leader, Mamadi Doumbouya, has promoted himself to the rank of army general as the coup-affected West African nation celebrated the establishment of its formidable armed forces.

In September 2021, at the age of 43, Doumbouya forcefully took control by ousting President Alpha Conde. Ironically, Conde had previously appointed then-Colonel Doumbouya to lead an elite unit responsible for safeguarding the head of state against such coups.

In a decree issued on Friday evening, Doumbouya—whose supporters have encouraged him to run for president once the junta relinquishes power—was also granted the Grand Cross of the National Order of the Colatier, which is the nation’s highest honor.

This was for “his unwavering efforts to foster social unity and collaboration among different communities.”

Since 2020, Doumbouya has been among several military officers who have taken control in West Africa, alongside counterparts in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

Doumbouya has overseen a continuous suppression of dissent, with numerous opposition leaders being detained, prosecuted in court, or compelled to go into exile.

Despite its abundant natural resources, Guinea continues to be a nation in poverty.

For decades, authoritarian or dictatorial governments have ruled it.
