NDLEA: Drug lord serving five-year jail term in Ikoyi prison attempts to export cocaine to UK
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has foiled an attempt by a convicted drug kingpin, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine to London, United Kingdom.
The spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, February 15, 2026, said Oladimeji is currently serving a five-year jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, Lagos.
According to the statement, NDLEA officers at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, Lagos, intercepted the consignment of compressed block of cocaine, hidden in a sack of Garri.
A staff of the convict’s logistics company, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan who presented the consignment for export was promptly arrested.
“Attempt by a convicted drug kingpin Olashupo Michael Oladimeji to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine concealed in processed cassava granules, popularly known as Garri to London, United Kingdom, on a Virgin Atlantic flight, has been thwarted by NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja Lagos,” the statement read.
“Olashupo is presently serving a five-year jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, Lagos, after NDLEA arrested him in 2025 in connection with a case of unlawful conspiracy to export 17.90kg cocaine, and was successfully prosecuted, convicted and sentenced in charge number FHC/L/925C/2025, by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
“Not ready to give up on his criminal enterprise, the convict who is the Chief Executive Officer of Dimeji Express Logistics, located at 20 Omilade Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, initiated the latest scheme from behind the prison wall to export the 1.10kg cocaine, using his company.

Abuja hotel collapse: Wike orders arrest of owner, to convert land to public use
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate arrest of the owner of a multi-story hotel that collapsed in Jikwoyi, Abuja last Friday, April 4 and announced that the land would be seized for public use.
LIB had reported that the building crumbled while workers were on site, triggering an emergency response from relevant authorities.
Visiting the site today April 7, Wike said the building was constructed without approval from the FCT Department of Development Control and that all the stop-work notices sent to the builders were ignored by the developer.
Wike confirmed that while there were no fatalities, several people sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. He warned that the outcome could have been far worse.
Announcing the government’s plans for the land, Wike said the FCT Administration will take over the land for public use, noting that those responsible for the illegal construction will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
He added that the local community would be consulted to determine a suitable public-purpose project for the reclaimed site.
