Police Arrest Murder Suspect, Recover Firearm and Apprehend Traffic Robbers
The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety through recent arrests and proactive crime prevention efforts across Lagos State. In a series of operations, officers apprehended a murder suspect, recovered illegal firearms, and arrested multiple individuals involved in violent crimes and robbery.
In Lagos, officers from the Satellite Division, during a routine patrol on February 7, 2025, arrested a suspect, Wisdom Obi, 24, at Abule Ado bus stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. Obi, who was riding an unregistered motorcycle, was found in possession of a brownie pistol and 13 rounds of live ammunition concealed within an MP3 radio.
The suspect was taken into custody, and the recovered firearm was documented as an exhibit while investigations continue.
On the same day, police operatives from the Orile Iganmu Division arrested four suspected traffic robbers—Kadir Ibrahim, Ifeanyin John, Oduwole Shola, and Rilwan Olajuwon—who were caught attempting to rob passengers from a broken-down vehicle at the Ascon White Sand area.
The suspects, now in custody, are under investigation, as the police warn citizens to remain vigilant against traffic robbers who disguise as traders to target vulnerable individuals.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident on February 5, 2025, police in Ikoyi responded to a fatal confrontation between two individuals, Okeke Johnchris and William Wisdom, at Falomo Square. Following an argument, Okeke allegedly used his Lexus saloon car to hit William, causing severe injuries that led to his death at Gbagada General Hospital.
The police have arrested the suspect, and an autopsy has been scheduled as investigations progress.
The Nigeria Police Force urges Nigerians to avoid violent confrontations and instead seek legal avenues for dispute resolution. It reassures citizens of its dedication to crime prevention and national security, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in ensuring a safer society.
