PSC approves promotion of three CPs to AIG, 16 DCPs to CP

The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of three CPs to AIGs and 16 DCPs to Commissioners of Police.

Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations, in a statement said the 16 Deputy Commissioners promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police included Audu Baba Umaru, who was promoted and retired.

Others were Cyriacus Enechukwu, Gombit Kopshella Bangs, Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, Rosemary Okpoho Akpan, Umar Hassan Kabir, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, among others.

It said the promotions were the highpoints of an extraordinary meeting of the Commission presided over by the Commission’s Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu and attended by Hon Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, retired Justice of the Supreme Court and Honourable Commissioner representing the Judiciary, DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Honourable Commissioner representing the Police and Chief Onyemuchi Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.

It added that the candidates for promotion were subjected to written examination and oral interview.

The Chairman, PSC used the occasion of the interactive session to warn the officers to steer clear of civil matters such as land, marital issues, debt collection, among others, and allow the courts to adjudicate on such matters.

According to him, the Commission would deal decisively with any of them caught engaging in such matters, adding that
the Commission would continue to monitor and support them.

EID-EL-FITR: IGP DISU FELICITATES MUSLIM FAITHFUL, ORDERS NATIONWIDE DEPLOYMENT OF TACTICAL ASSETS

​The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

​In furtherance of his commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment during the festive period, the Inspector-General has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to implement robust security arrangements.
​Operational measures include:
​Strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives.

​Deployment of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.
​Increased presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces to ensure peaceful, hitch-free celebrations.

​The IGP has also ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties. These actions are aimed at proactively deterring criminal activities and ensuring a swift response to any emerging threats.

​IGP Disu calls on members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the following emergency lines:

​IGP Tunji Disu wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr.
