As part of the ongoing effort to bolster regional security measures and enhance effectiveness in policing strategies, the Nigeria Police Force is currently deepening strategic collaboration with Interpol to strengthen intelligence sharing, operational coordination, and capacity-building initiatives across borders.
This is evidenced by the recent high-level meeting in France attended by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD., NPM alongside the President of INTERPOL, Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi of the United Arab Emirates, the INTERPOL Vice-President for Africa, AIG Garba Baba Umar (Rtd.), and the Secretary General Dr. Jurgen Stock on the 27th April 2024, where the IGP discussed key partnerships to tackle transnational organized crime.
Other African leaders who were present at the meeting include chiefs of Police from East Africa, North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, and Southern Africa, and top officers at the secretariat of Interpol.
The IGP noted that the exchange of expertise, experience, and networks between INTERPOL and the Nigeria Police would reflect a concerted approach to address criminal activities such as cybercrime, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and kidnapping in the African region.

Motorists and residents in around back of IMSU, the Imo State capital, are celebrating a new era of seamless urban mobility following the official completion and opening of the newly constructed Chukwuma Nwoha Road, linking the Orji Flyover to MCC Junction.
The strategic dual carriageway, built to modern standards, features a comprehensive drainage system and solar-powered street lighting—innovations that not only enhance safety but also contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the area. The road, already in use, is fast becoming a catalyst for increased economic activity along the corridor, with businesses springing back to life and commuters experiencing much-needed relief from years of poor road conditions.
Governor Hope Uzodimma, in a statement marking the milestone, reflected on the challenges and triumphs of the State’s infrastructural transformation. “The journey to transform Imo State’s road infrastructure has been both challenging and rewarding. Today, I look back with pride at the progress we’ve made, most recently marked by the successful completion of the Chukwuma Nwoha Road. This is more than a road—it is a symbol of our resolve to redefine urban mobility and economic progress,” he said.
The governor, widely referred to as the #PeoplesGovernor the ROAD MASTER, has continued to earn praise for his administration’s dedication to impactful development.
Mrs. Ogechi Ibe, a business owner along newly reconstructed road, commended the governor for what she described as “a timely and thoughtful project.” According to her, “Before now, this road was almost impassable during the rainy season, and we used to lose customers. Today, my business is picking up again, and all thanks to Governor Uzodimma.”
Another resident, Mr. Chinedu Okafor, who resides around prefab, noted that the newly completed road has cut travel time. “This is one of the most impactful projects in recent times. The dual carriageway and lighting system are impressive. The #PeoplesGovernor has done well,” he added.
The completion of the Chukwuma Nwoha Road adds to a growing list of transformative infrastructure projects under the Uzodimma administration, as Imo State inches closer to becoming a model of development and economic resilience in the South-East region.
