Seven injured as factory machine explodes in Ogun

Seven workers of Quantum Steels Nigeria Limited, located at KM 16, Ikorodu-Sagamu road, Ogijo, have sustained varying degrees of injuries following an explosion of one of the factory’s machines.

The victims, all male, including three expatriates, are Daniel Bala, 28, Mutiu Olajide, 39, Godwin Solomon, 27, Maduabuchi Onwe, 27, Ajun Kumar, 37, Chandan Kumar, 50 and 30 year old Rakash Kumar.

The incident was said to have occurred following a blast from one of the factory’s machines around 7pm on Sunday.

Confirming the incident to DAILY POST on Thursday, the public relations officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said the incident was reported around 10:30 am on Wednesday by one Joseph Adewale, a staff of the company.

Odutola stated that all injured persons are currently receiving medical treatment at Rolayo Hospital, Ikorodu, Lagos State, and are responding to treatment.

She noted that the Command has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion and ensure compliance with industrial safety regulations.

Odutola said, “According to the report, on March 2, 2025, at approximately 1860 hours, a blast from one of the factory’s machinery led to serious injuries sustained by seven individuals, including both Nigerian and expatriate workers.

“All seven injured persons are currently receiving medical treatment at Rolayo Hospital, Ikorodu, Lagos State, and are responding to treatment.

“Upon receiving the report, police detectives promptly visited the scene of the incident, conducted an initial assessment, interviewed relevant persons, and documented evidence, including photographs.”

Meanwhile, she urged companies and industries to prioritize workplace safety and adhere strictly to safety protocols to prevent such incidents.

​Strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives.

​Deployment of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.
​Increased presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces to ensure peaceful, hitch-free celebrations.

​The IGP has also ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties. These actions are aimed at proactively deterring criminal activities and ensuring a swift response to any emerging threats.

​IGP Disu calls on members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the following emergency lines:
