SUSPENSION: Natasha Akpoti Defeats Akpabio in Court
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has struck out two appeals filed by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio against the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension suit at the High Court.
In a unanimous decision delivered by Justices Hamma Barka, Adebukunola Banjoko, and Okon Abang, the appellate court struck out the motions dated 20th and 25th March 2025, following a formal application to withdraw them.
The court further awarded the sum of ₦100,000 in costs to the 1st respondent, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Additionally, the court ordered that Appeal No: CA/ABJ/PRE/ROA/CV/395M/2025 be deleted.
The Senate President had sought multiple reliefs from the appellate court, including:
1. An order enlarging the time within which he could seek leave to appeal the decision of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/384/2025. The judgment was delivered by Honourable Justice Obiora Egwuatu on 10th March 2025.
2. An order granting leave to appeal against the High Court’s decision in the same suit.
3. An order extending the time within which the appellant could file a Notice of Appeal against the said judgment.
4. An order staying further proceedings in the matter pending the determination of his appeal.
However, with the withdrawal and subsequent striking out of the motions, the reliefs sought by the Senate President are effectively nullified at this stage.
This ruling marks a significant legal win for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in her ongoing legal battle surrounding her controversial suspension.

The disturbing incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025 behind Government Secondary School, Gboko, throwing the community into pandemonium and mourning.
Residents are calling for immediate police intervention to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure justice is served.

TikTok influencer and livestreamer, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has been hospitalised following an incident in which he crashed his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz during an emotional livestream.
The incident occurred on Sunday along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos during an Instagram live session titled “RIP Peller.”
In the widely circulated video, Peller appeared visibly distressed while driving alone and was seen engaging in what appeared to be a heated phone conversation, reportedly with his girlfriend and fellow content creator, Jarvis, amid reports of a possible breakup.
During the livestream, Peller was seen crying and appearing agitated as he made several troubling remarks, including statements suggesting he might cause an accident and expressions of fear and emotional distress.
He repeatedly voiced concerns about being mocked publicly if the relationship ended and, at one point, stated that he intended to harm himself without putting others at risk.
“I will use this car and have an accident right now,” and later, “I’m scared. I’m scared.
“If you break up with me, people will be mocking me, they will be mocking me, they will be mocking me, they will be, they will be mocking me, they will not… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself.”
Moments later, footage showed him veering off the road and colliding with a barrier, resulting in significant damage to the luxury vehicle.
Bystanders quickly assisted him at the scene, and he was rushed to a hospital.
While reports confirm he was rescued and received medical attention, details on the severity of his injuries remain unconfirmed.
The couple’s relationship has been turbulent, with previous public arguments, allegations, and reconciliations playing out online. Leaked chats suggesting another breakup have fuelled speculation that this latest dispute triggered the incident.
Social media reactions have been mixed as many expressed genuine concern over Peller’s well-being and mental health, while others questioned if the dramatic event was exaggerated or staged for attention, given his history of viral content.
Calls have emerged for authorities, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, to investigate due to the potential risks to public safety.
