‎Prof. ABC Nwosu, who previously held the position of health minister during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, is said to have emerged as the winner of the PDP governorship primary in Anambra State in 1998; however, he faced disqualification by an appeal panel thereafter.

‎In a recent interview with Vanguard News in Abuja, Prof. Nwosu, He stated that;

“The period of greatest stability we’ve experienced in Anambra occurred during Peter Obi’s leadership, and I believe his humility played a significant role in that success.

‎Speaking about the forth coming Election in Anambra state, Nwosu stated that;
‎” I strongly support a transparent and equitable process that allows individuals to choose their preferred candidate for governor without any constraints. That represents the clearest position I can adopt, informed by my personal experiences.”

Commanding Officers must lead by example — COAS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has charged Commanding Officers and their equivalents at the tactical level of the Nigerian Army to uphold the highest standard of professionalism in their respective units and to set the bar for discipline, courage, and valour.

Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, in a statement, said the COAS gave the charge on Thursday during the closing ceremony of the Second Commanding Officers Workshop held at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Rukuba, Jos.

Lieutenant General Oluyede noted that the efficient discharge of responsibilities at their level is crucial to achieving the military end state in the campaign objectives across the various theatres of operation.

He therefore encouraged the officers to pay adequate attention to the welfare of their subordinates, stressing that a motivated force is essential for optimal performance.

The COAS further emphasised the importance of leveraging the knowledge acquired during the workshop to enhance leadership capabilities in their respective formations.

According to him, the value of such professional engagements lies in translating theory into action through improved operational planning, decisive leadership, and a renewed commitment to the values and ethos of the Nigerian Army.

Catholic Bishop Of Nnewi, Two Others Hospitalised After Vehicle Crashed In Road Accident

The bishop was returning from Ukpor to Agulu with two of his priests when the incident occurred.

The Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye, has narrowly escaped death after his vehicle was involved in an accident along Agulu Lake Road.

The three men were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment under medical supervision.

The Catholic Treasure Facebook page confirmed the incident, expressing gratitude that no life was lost.

Photographs shared on social media showed the damaged vehicles involved in the crash.

While the full details of the incident are yet to be made known, the bishop and the two priests are said to be receiving treatment.

The incident has attracted prayers and reactions from the Anambra community and other well-meaning Nigerians.

Naira continues to depreciate against dollar at official market

The naira continued to depreciate against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Wednesday.

According to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s data, the naira weakened slightly to N 1,531 per dollar on Wednesday from N 1,529.22 exchanged on Tuesday.

This means that the naira dropped by N1.78 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis, the highest depreciation this week.

Meanwhile, at the black market, it remained unchanged at N1,550 per dollar on Wednesday, the same rate exchanged on Tuesday.

This comes as CardinalStone’s mid-year outlook predicted that Nigeria’s external reserves are expected to rise to $41 billion by year-end.
