The Nigerian Stock Exchange gained a record ₦2.1 trillion in just 24 hours, moving from an All Share Index with a total market capitalisation of ₦59.416 trillion, up from ₦57.293 trillion on Thursday last week. You also said nothing. The Port Harcourt Refinery has been revived after many years of being moribund. You were quiet.

But when two female undergraduates of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, died from a stampede yesterday, you chose to speak and rather than commiserate with the families of the victims, you decided to politicise their deaths to further your 2027 Presidential campaign. Don’t you think this is a new low, even for you? Are you only happy when evil things occur?

And you sought to lay the blame on the Federal Government. Was the Federal Government to blame when almost twenty people lost their lives in a stampede in Anambra in 2013 when you were Governor? Were they also to blame for the hundreds of young Anambra men who were extrajudicially killed under your watch and their bodies dumped in the Ezu River?

Desperation is dangerous as it can lead a hitherto right thinking man to take action and make utterances that he would never have even considered were it not for the desperation.

That is why you were silent when the brothers, Chinedu and Omama, were burnt to death by a mob in Onitsha. You said nothing. You did not condemn it. You did not call for the arrest of the perpetrators. You pretended not to hear about it. But now that two female undergraduates died in Nasarawa, it is time to shed crocodile tears!

This is the holy month of Ramadan. Our Muslim brothers and sisters are fasting. It is also the Lenten season. Our Christian brothers and sisters are also fasting. We need unity. We do not need a desperate politician trying to set Nigerians against each other.

Hundreds of families displaced by last year’s devastating floods in Kamfani Village, Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, are set to receive building support and relocation assistance from the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the Kebbi State Government.

The aid forms part of a long-term recovery effort to support victims who lost their homes and livelihoods during the torrential rains that caused widespread flooding across the state. Many of the affected households have been living in precarious conditions since the disaster.

Ekwutosblog gathered that the flood, which struck during the peak of the rainy season, submerged homes, destroyed farmlands, and left scores of residents in Kamfani Village without shelter or access to basic amenities.

To aid the reconstruction and resettlement process, NEMA has provided essential building materials, including one lorryload of cement, 600 roofing sheets, 200 bundles of zinc, and 50 bags of nails, among other items.

The Director General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, represented by Aliyu Shehu Kashin Dangi, said the support was aimed not only at providing immediate relief but also at promoting long-term stability and resilience within the affected community.

The Kebbi State Government has also established a committee to oversee the allocation of land at a new site designated for the displaced residents of Kamfani Village.

According to the Chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Alhaji Bello Rilisko, the committee will commence work on Monday to ensure that every displaced household is allocated a plot in the new settlement.

The suspects, Christopher Amah (28), Bada Olusesi (38), and Magaji Yusuf (34), were arrested on April 26, 2025, as officers on routine patrol intercepted the unlawful gathering.

According to police sources, the patrol team received intelligence about a suspected cult assembly involving around 15 individuals.

Acting swiftly, the operatives moved in and succeeded in apprehending three members of the group.

A subsequent search of the suspects led to the recovery of two firearms: a defaced Beretta pistol and a locally fabricated pistol, which was loaded with a live cartridge.

The weapons have been taken into custody as investigations continue, with efforts underway to track down the remaining suspects who fled the scene.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism and other forms of organized crime.

He stressed that the police under his leadership would ensure there is no refuge for cultists or criminal elements operating within the state.

The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr. Femi Babafemi, disclosed the operation in a statement posted on X.com on Sunday. According to him, the tanker was intercepted during a targeted stop-and-search operation, where officers discovered a secret compartment ingeniously built into the underside of the vehicle.

“Narco-trend: Fuel tanker on top but drug tanker beneath!” Babafemi wrote.

“Please watch how #ndlea_nigeria officers discovered a large storage created in the belly of this oil tanker for the sole purpose of moving drugs across the country.”

The specific type and quantity of the concealed drugs were not immediately disclosed.

This interception comes amid NDLEA’s intensified nationwide crackdown on drug smuggling networks.
