Zamfara: APC Calls for thorough investigation into airstrike that claimed 20 lives
The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called for a thorough investigation into the recent accidental airstrike to prevent a recurrence, urging the military authorities to ensure that such tragedies do not undermine the ongoing fight against banditry.
The party expressed deep sadness over the tragic airstrike that claimed over 20 lives, including members of the Community Protection Guard (CPG), vigilantes, and some residents of Tungar Kara village in Maradun Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the APC Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, the party extended heartfelt condolences to the state government and people of Zamfara, particularly the families of those who lost their lives.
“We pray Allah to accept their martyrdom and grant their families the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” he added.
The party also commended the ongoing military efforts to combat banditry in the state, highlighting recent successes by Operation Fasan Yamma, which reportedly dismantled several bandit hideouts and eliminated over 25 terrorists in Fakai, a camp enclave belonging to notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji.
The APC noted that the intensified military offensive has forced many bandits to flee their hideouts, with Turji himself believed to be on the run.
“This operational strategy is quite impressive and should be sustained with the support of all peace-loving citizens.”

“Jail David Mark” as ADC’s Internal Crisis Deepens: Hon Success Opara Threatens Action Against David Mark
Abuja, Nigeria – Tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) reached a boiling point as Hon Success Opara, a high-ranking party official, warned that she would not hesitate to send former Senate President David Mark to jail if she were the judge handling the party’s internal litigation cases.
Opara’s statement comes in response to allegations that Mark and the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) failed to adhere to the ADC’s constitution.
“I’ll jail David Mark if I’m the Judge handling the ADC party internal litigation cases, citing how David Mark and the NEC were not able to adhere to what they wrote in the constitution of the ADC,” Opara said.
The internal strife has led to a flurry of court cases, with various factions vying for control of the party. Opara’s remarks underscore the deepening divisions within the ADC and raise questions about the party’s future.
