2027: APC group rejects Aiyedatiwa’s move to collapse Tinubu’s campaign platforms
A support group within the All Progressives Congress, APC, Grassroots Movement for Tinubu, GMT, has countered the decision of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to dissolve all independent campaign groups supporting the reelection of President Bola Tinubu.
According to the group, which hailed the move by the governor to further unify the party ahead of the polls, the need to recognise the role of diverse political support formations during election seasons is essential.
While disclosing this in a statement, the Director of Media of the state chapter of GMT, Ojo Oyewamide, disclosed that in the buildup to the 2024 governorship election in the state, various APC support groups did work for the emergence of Aiyedatiwa.
The governor had on Friday stressed that all support groups within APC in the state working for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu must work under the leadership of the party.
Oyewamide, who urged members of the group to disregard the purported move to collapse its structure into a single, party-controlled platform, stated that GMT is a national organisation with structures across the 36 states and the FCT, stressing that it is not a product of Ondo State politics.
He said, “We have noted with concern the efforts by some individuals to twist the outcomes of the caucus meeting, suggesting that all support groups working for President Tinubu must collapse into a single structure within the state.
“History offers clear examples: during the last governorship election in Ondo State, several groups, including LACO-FS, the O Datiwa Group, Lucky Disciples, Partners with Lucky, and O Datiwa Ladies, worked alongside the party to deliver a resounding 18–0 victory.
“Similarly, under the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, vibrant groups such as the Aketi Mandate Group, Team Aketi, Ajapada, Ibi Giga Ambassadors, and Ibi Giga Initiatives all made notable contributions to the electoral success of the party.”

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced his defection to a new political party.
Adeleke recently resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal crises within the party.
According to a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area, the governor formally withdrew from the party on November 4, 2025.

State House of Assembly suspends Local Govt chairman
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Lafia Local Government, Mohammad Haliru Arabo, for three months over his role in the unlawful removal of the council’s Speaker.
The decision was taken during plenary in Lafia after a motion was raised by Musa Ibrahim Abubakar, who leads the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Lawmakers agreed that the action was needed to allow a fair investigation and calm the tension that followed the leadership dispute in the council.
The Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, said the suspension will stand until the committee completes its findings.
He said that the current structure of the Lafia Legislative Arm will remain unchanged throughout the investigation.
During this period, the Deputy Chairman of Lafia Local Government, Uba Arikiya, has been directed to take charge of the council.
The Speaker explained that the House acted within the powers given to it by the constitution and questioned why the Chairman ventured into matters that belong to the legislature.
The Clerk of the House has been asked to notify Governor Abdullahi Sule of the resolution.
Lawmakers such as Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, Mohammed Garba Isimbabi, Suleiman Yakubu Azara, and Larry Ven-Bawa backed the move, saying that the suspension would help prevent a wider crisis in the council and send a clear message to other local governments in the state.
