As part of his commitment to ensure that Prince Alex Mbata wins the senate seat for Imo East Senatorial District, a Councilorship aspirant in Ikenegbu Ward 2, Success Opara, has launched a Campus Alliance to mobilize students across tertiary institutions in Owerri Zone.
Opara, who was recently inaugurated into the Prince Alex Mbata Campaign Organization at Ikenegbu Ward 2, Owerri Municipal, said the alliance is his own strategic contribution to the campaign after his inauguration.
Speaking in Owerri, Opara explained that the core objective of the Campus Alliance is basically to ensure that students across tertiary institutions vote for the best candidate for Senate — who is running under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“This exercise serves as a clarion call to all of Owerri Zone to make the best choice — to look beyond party affiliation and select the best candidate for Imo East Senatorial District. This alliance is basically to ensure students vote the best candidate for Senate who is running under APC,” Opara stated.
According to him, his decision to focus on student mobilization stems from his background as a student of the Department of Sociology, Imo State University (IMSU).
“As a former student of IMSU Sociology Department and as a former Councilorship aspirant in Ikenegbu Ward 2, I know what the student population can do in an election. Students constitute over 60% of the active voting population in Owerri Zone,” he said.

“Prince Alex Mbata has done a lot single-handedly without holding any political position. I strongly believe he will do even more when elected as the Senator representing Owerri Zone in the Red Chamber. He has already built roads in his community without holding any elective position in government — imagine what he will do when elected. The majority of other contestants have not achieved what he has voluntarily done for his people,” Opara said.
He noted that Prince Mbata made the best choice in choosing APC as a well-organized and national party that can attract federal development.
*Call for Complete Owerri Ticket*
Opara also used the medium to call on all eligible students to consider voting for a complete progressive ticket for Owerri in 2027.
“I want to use this medium to call on all eligible students to also consider voting for *Hon. Tochukwu Okere for Federal House, Owerri Federal Constituency* and *Hon. Ugochukwu Obodo for House of Assembly, Owerri Municipal*. If we vote for these best candidates across board — from Senate to House of Reps to House of Assembly — Owerri will have a strong and united voice,” he appealed.
He described Okere and Ugochukwu as credible candidates who understand the needs of the people and will complement Prince Mbata’s representation at the National Assembly and State Assembly.
“Come January 2027 elections, I urge our people of Owerri Zone to give them our votes. It will not be a wasted vote because they will deliver. Vote APC for Senate, Owerri Zone. Vote Prince Dr. Alex Mbata. Vote Tochukwu Okere for Owerri Federal Constituency and vote Ugochukwu Obodo  for Owerri Municipal House of Assembly,” Opara concluded.
