Uzodimma Directs Ex LG Chairmen To Hand Over To Directors of Administration

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has directed local government Chairmen whose tenures expired recently to hand over government property in their possession to Directors of Administration in the respective areas.

He directed that the handing over and take over procedures must be completed on or before close of work on Monday, October 5th,2026.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmas Iwu, the former Chairmen were told that the directive followed the expiration of their tenures and those of the councillors.

They were however informed that those who still have a future ambition to return to office should follow the necessary guidelines as stipulated by the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission.

The governor, on behalf of the government and the good people of Imo State expressed appreciation to the former Chairmen and councillors for their services to the state.

IMO STATE GOVERNMENT PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Following the expiration of tenures of Local Government Chairmen and Councillors across the 27 Local government areas of the state, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSGI, Governor of Imo State has approved that the erstwhile Chairmen hand over all government property under their care to the Director of Administration in their local government areas.

All handover and takeover formalities are to be concluded on or before close of work on Monday, October 5th, 2026.

Meanwhile, His Excellency has given approval to the former officials who are desirous of contesting the next local government election to feel free and indicate interest by fulfilling all requirements as demanded by the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission.
