North not ganging up against Tinubu – Hakeem Baba-Ahmed
Former Political Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, on Thursday declared that the North is not ganging up against the president.
Baba-Ahmed also said the chemistry between Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima is excellent.
He spoke in an interview on TVC, during which he explained why he resigned from Tinubu’s government.
Baba-Ahmed disclosed that he resigned because there was not much to do as a Political Adviser to the President.
He said: “No gang up of the North against the South, I resigned because I wasn’t happy about the job and when you are not happy about a job you leave.
“They give you a job and its description and they tell you what to do. You go there expecting to do the work and when you are not doing the work, you have two choices – sit there for four years waiting for something to happen while collecting salaries in a nice office or you leave. I chose the latter because there wasn’t much to do.
“It has nothing to do with northerner, the Vice President has always had the potential for being idle.
“The Vice President has only two jobs defined – they are called spear tyres and if you are unfortunate not to have a spear tyres at the precise time you need it, then you are in trouble.
“Most vice presidents have the potential to be idle depending on the disposition and the chemistry with the president.
“When I left, the chemistry was excellent but for me, I have done a lot in my life, I was a public officer for almost 40 years and I went into this administration on the assurances that there would be work for somebody like a political adviser but I found out that there wasn’t much to do.”

State House of Assembly suspends Local Govt chairman
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Lafia Local Government, Mohammad Haliru Arabo, for three months over his role in the unlawful removal of the council’s Speaker.
The decision was taken during plenary in Lafia after a motion was raised by Musa Ibrahim Abubakar, who leads the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Lawmakers agreed that the action was needed to allow a fair investigation and calm the tension that followed the leadership dispute in the council.
The Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, said the suspension will stand until the committee completes its findings.
He said that the current structure of the Lafia Legislative Arm will remain unchanged throughout the investigation.
During this period, the Deputy Chairman of Lafia Local Government, Uba Arikiya, has been directed to take charge of the council.
The Speaker explained that the House acted within the powers given to it by the constitution and questioned why the Chairman ventured into matters that belong to the legislature.
The Clerk of the House has been asked to notify Governor Abdullahi Sule of the resolution.
Lawmakers such as Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, Mohammed Garba Isimbabi, Suleiman Yakubu Azara, and Larry Ven-Bawa backed the move, saying that the suspension would help prevent a wider crisis in the council and send a clear message to other local governments in the state.
