African Democratic Congress ADC Imo State Chapter Chairman Prof James Okoroma with the delegation of the Arewa community in Imo State when they paid him solidarity and Eid el Maulud visit in the party secretariat Owerri
The Arewa United for Peace Foundation, Imo State Chapter, has paid a solidarity visit to the state chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prof. James Okoroma, at the party’s headquarters in Owerri.
The visit, which coincided with the commemoration of the Eid-el-Maulud celebrations, also provided an opportunity for the foundation to felicitate with Prof. Okoroma on his recent reconfirmation as the ADC state chairman.
Leading the delegation, Alhaji Ilyia Kadggi Amahigh, chairman of the foundation, explained that the visit was aimed at further strengthening the bond of unity and mutual respect among diverse communities in Imo State. He noted that the Arewa community recognizes Okoroma as a tested leader with the vision and capacity to advance inclusive governance through the ADC.
According to him, the Arewa community in Imo is fully aligned with the ideals of the ADC and is ready to work with the party across all levels to entrench good governance. “We have seen the ADC as a credible alternative for Nigeria — a party capable of liberating our people from the economic hardship and political mismanagement under the APC,” Alhaji Amahigh stated.
In his remarks, the foundation’s secretary, Comrade Aminu Ahmed, reaffirmed the body’s commitment to promoting peace, dialogue, and harmonious coexistence among the people of Imo State, irrespective of ethnic or religious background.
He emphasized that his organization’s partnership with the ADC is anchored in shared values of inclusiveness, equity, justice, and sustainable development. He further noted that the Arewa community had presence in every Local Government Area of Imo State and was determined to work with the ADC in building a better Imo and a greater Nigeria.
Responding, Okoroma, expressed deep appreciation to the leadership and members of the Arewa United for Peace Foundation for their solidarity, support, and goodwill. He described the visit as a reflection of the unity and brotherhood that Nigeria urgently needs. Prof. Okoroma assured them that the ADC remains committed to partnering with credible organizations and communities in the pursuit of peace, justice, and progress in Imo State and across the country.
The event was rounded off with prayers and goodwill messages for sustained peace, unity, and prosperity in Imo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Also present at the meeting with the State Chairman were the ADC State Publicity Secretary, Hon. MacDonald Amadi, and the State Chief Whip, Mazi Emenike Nmeregini, among others.
