The Interim State Executive Committee of the Action People’s Party (APP), Imo State Chapter, ably led by *Hon. Ernest Njesi,* commends the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, and his officials for the successful conduct of the Anambra State off-season governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

We particularly appreciate the timely deployment of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials, as well as the almost 100% real-time upload of election results to the IREV, which demonstrates a significant improvement in INEC’s commitment to free, fair, credible, and transparent election in our country.

This positive shift is also a testament to the Commission’s dedication to strengthening our democratic process.

Similarly, we extend our appreciation to the security agencies for their professional disposition throughout the conduct of the election. Their patriotic and exemplary behaviour before, during, and after the election was instrumental in ensuring a peaceful and orderly process.

We cannot fail to thank the people of Anambra State for coming out en masse to participate effectively in the leadership recruitment process of their state.

Though the outcome of the election indicates a low turnout from an overwhelming 2.7 million registered voters, but the enthusiasm of those who participated in the election , no doubt, reflects the commitment of Anambra people to deepening sustainable democratic values and culture in the state in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

Equally, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the winner, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on his well-deserved victory, which demonstrates the confidence of ‘Ndi Anambra’ in his consolidation agenda.

We however urge him to be as always – magnanimous in victory and to work towards uniting the people of Anambra State.

As a party, we reiterate our commitment to supporting INEC in its efforts to strengthen our electoral process and promote democratic governance in Nigeria – that strike a chord with the masses even as their yearnings and aspirations are addressed through the provision of democratic dividends.

We are hopeful that the success recorded in Anambra will be carried over into future elections in the country as such will make Nigeria a global reference point for credible elections.

APP… Strong economy, united Nigeria!

Signed:

Cajetan Duke, JP
State Publicity Secretary
