Published

Hon. Ugochukwu Augustine Obodo

The immediate past member representing Owerri Municipal State Constituency in the Imo State House Of Assembly, Hon. Ugochukwu Augustine Obodo has urged his supporters and formidable socio-political structure to remain calm, peaceful, focussed, law abiding and supportive of the people-oriented leadership of the 3-R Administration of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, despite the ruling from the Court of Appeal.

According to a statement signed by Hon Ugochukwu Obodo, “My dearest constituents of Owerri Municipal State Constituency, both indigenes and non-indigenes, you freely gave me your votes on the 18th of March 2023, so as to offer you effective, efficient and proactive representation in the Imo State House of Assembly. You indeed honoured me with your votes. Unfortunately, my victory was challenged at the Election Petition Tribunal. The Tribunal Judgement which was delivered two months ago was against me. However, not satisfied with the judgement of the Tribunal, my legal team graciously approached the Appeal Court to set aside the Tribunal ruling. We made submissions aimed at reclaiming our mandate. Unfortunately, in their wisdom, the Judges sitting at the Court of Appeal in Lagos, on Thursday 23rd November 2023 dismissed our Appeal and awarded victory to our opponent”.

“Umunnem Na Umunnam, it was a tough battle. Nevertheless, I give Almighty God all the Glory”.

“Within these five months I represented you at the Imo State House Of Assembly, I did not disappoint you. I was very effective. I was very efficient. Indeed, I co-sponsored Bills and Motions that will positively touch the lives of Owerri indigenes in particular and Imo citizens in general. I participated fully in debates in the Hallowed Chamber of Imo State House Of Assembly. My positive contributions to debates propelled the leadership of the Assembly to appoint me, your humble son, the House Committee Chairman On Digital Economy and E-Governance. A very rare privileged position that would have offered me the opportunity to facilitate employment for some of you who are not yet employed. A rare privileged position that would have propelled me to attract unprecedented and unbeatable constituency projects to Owerri Municipal State Constituency”. It is well.

“My dearest people of Owerri Municipal State Constituency, the Appeal Court ruling did not take away or nullify my undiluted loyalty to the 3-R Administration of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma. My continued love, loyalty and confidence to my father and leader, Governor Hope Uzodimma remain unshakable. I therefore enjoin you all to continue to support the administration. I urge you to remain resolute in your love and loyalty to His Excellency, for he means well”.

“I cannot end this without thanking my Distinguished Honourable colleagues in the Imo State House of Assembly, especially, the Speaker, Rt Honourable Chike Olemgbe, the Deputy Speaker, Rt Honourable Sir Amara Chyna Iwuanynwu and others, including our able, proactive and hard working Clerk, Chinelo Adaora Emeghara, Esq. I am indeed grateful for your love and support given to me within this very short period”.

It is not yet over.

To God Almighty be all the Glory, Amen.

Honorable Ugochukwu Augustine Obodo

2027 coalition: ADA not adopted by Atiku, others yet – Aide

Demola Olarenwaju, the Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the media of adding to their challenges, especially on report of the adoption of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) as the opposition coalition platform.

He said this on Saturday in a tweet on his X handle, adding that he was surprised at the wide reports that the ADC is the opposition coalition’s platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

”Nigerian newspapers often contribute to our challenges. A group is in the process of pursuing party registration, just like any other Nigerian, but they need to coordinate this with the coalition.

He maintained that ADA has not been adopted by the coalition, stressing that the public will be informed about the appropriate choices and decision reached by the coalition on ADA.

”ADA has not been adopted by the coalition, and when the time is right, the public will be informed about the appropriate choices and decisions. Just be patient with that.,” he wrote

Ekwutosblog recalled that the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NCG) formally wrote to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, seeking the registration of a new political party – All Democratic Alliance, ADA.

This has sparked speculations that Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufa’i, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi and others would adopt ADA as their platform for the 2027 election.

Shettima: Presidency reveals when Tinubu will choose running mate

Published

The Presidency has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu will choose his running mate in the 2027 election only after formally accepting the All Progressives Congress’ nomination during its convention in 2026.

Special Adviser to the President on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this on Thursday in an interview with Daily Trust newspaper.

Onanuga dismissed the concern that presidency has remained silent over the omission of Vice President Kashim Shettima from a wave of endorsements for Tinubu.

According to him, the speculation of a rift between Tinubu and Shettima was baseless.

“When I read the report, I dismissed it as a non issue. In a presidential system, the candidate emerges first and then selects a running mate. That’s what happened under Buhari – he was nominated first and later picked his running mate. You don’t do both at once.

“Once INEC releases the timetable, the party convention will hold, and if the president is nominated again, he will choose his run-ning mate,” he said.
