The Leader of Arewa Community in South, Alhaji Musa Saidu, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to tackle insecurity in the North, saying the president would be recognised as a hero by the North if this security challenges are resolved.

Musa made the appeal at the weekend, adding that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, should honourably resign due to his alleged inability to make a significant positive impact in resolving security problems in Zamfara State.

Saidu said it appeared like the minister and the governor of Zamfara State cannot work together because of alleged political differences, noting that the situation was affecting security issues in the state.

He said: “All northern ministers who are not performing should be shown the door because we have crisis in the North; this is not time for sentiment. The issue of Zamfara for instance, is a big problem.”

Saidu said President Tinubu should not panic over recent media reports that some northern politicians were regrouping, stressing that some of those they see as political leaders in the North no longer have followership among the people.

He said the recent mass protest was a clear indication that the masses in the North had chosen to take their destiny in their hands.

The Arewa leader added that all the president should do to win the hearts of the northern people was to tackle insecurity in the area.

He said when the problem of insecurity is addressed people can go to their farms to earn their living.
