The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has arrested 12 suspected armed robbers linked to the killing of an Arise TV staff member, Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, and a security guard, Mr. Barnabas Danlami, during a robbery attack at Unique Apartment, Gishiri Village, Katampe District, Abuja.
The arrests followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to security agencies to apprehend those behind the killings.
According to a report by counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, after being tracked through digital and reconstructive intelligence.
The incident occurred on September 29, 2025, at about 3:30 am, when the victims were murdered during a robbery at their residence.
The suspects were identified as Shamsudeen Hassan (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Hassan Isah, 22 (Zaria, Kaduna State), Abubakar Alkamu, 27 (Musawa, Katsina State), Sani Sirajo, 20 (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Mashkur Jamili, 28 (Igabi, Kaduna State), Suleiman Badamasi, 21 (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Abdulsalam Saleh (Katsina LGA, Katsina State), Zaharadeen Muhammad, 23 (Chikun, Kaduna State), Musa Adamu, 30 (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Sumayya Mohammed, 27 (Sammaka, Kaduna State), Isah Abdulrahman, 25 (Zaria, Kaduna State), and Musa Umar, 31 (Maiduguri, Borno State).
Police sources said four suspects — Shamsudeen, Hassan, Alkamu, and Sirajo — were first apprehended shortly after the incident and confessed to their roles.
Shamsudeen reportedly admitted to shooting the security guard, while Sirajo claimed he tried to hold Maduagwu as she fell from the third floor.
Shamsudeen also confessed to driving away the victims’ white Honda CR-V after the operation. The suspects allegedly shared N200,000 each from the proceeds of the robbery.
Recovered items from the gang included one fabricated AK-47 rifle, 36 rounds of live ammunition, one locally-made pistol, one pump-action gun, two cartridges, four mobile phones, two knives, a cutlass, and nine torchlights.
Further arrests were made on October 8, 2025, when operatives intercepted three gang members, including Musa Umar and Hassan Isah, while planning another robbery in Maitama.
The police said all 12 suspects are in custody and have confessed to the crimes.
The FCT Commissioner of Police commended the Scorpion Squad for their swift action and assured residents that the Command would sustain its operations against violent crime in the territory.

Donald Trump’s Intervention Will Be Messy, Powerful People Are Behind K!llings In Nigeria – Pastor Sam Adeyemi
The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, has stated that debating the terminology used to describe the k!lling of Christians in Nigeria is insensitive.
Adeyemi also warned Nigeria’s security challenges could become worse if a potential US military action happens.
He stated this on Thursday, while addressing during a press conference to mark the church’s 30th anniversary.
“It is open knowledge that some of the people that support the k!lling of Christians are powerful,” Adeyemi said.
“Some of them are at the highest levels of government. And some of them are wealthy.
“So, it is not something America will throw bombs on the ground, and it will disappear.
“At the end of the day, they will go and we will still have to sit down and have a discussion.”

God’s Judgment Awaits Sheikh Gumi For Claiming We Buried Empty Caskets – Rev. Dachomo Blows Hot (Video)
Angered by claims made by controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi—that Christians in Plateau State and other parts of the Middle Belt bury empty coffins in mass graves to fabricate narratives of widespread k!llings and genocide—fiery Plateau clergyman Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has challenged the scholar to provide evidence or face legal action.
The Kaduna-based Islamic cleric had, in a post on his Facebook page, claimed that a doctor who lives in the Middle Belt region of the country alerted him to what he described as the false tricks employed by Christian leaders in the region to deceive the world and push the Christian genocide narrative which led to US President Donald Trump classifying Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern”.
“A Doctor wrote me: Do you know that some Middle Belt Christian groups are now staging fake mass k!llings?” Gumi wrote in the post.
“They are burying empty coffins and recording the process as if real victims were k!lled, just to push the narrative of a Christian genocide. This is desperation at its peak. A disgrace. Manipulating information to provoke hatred and international sympathy?”
But in a video he posted on his Facebook page on Friday, Rev. Dachomo called out Gumi and challenged him to prove his accusations and point out where the empty coffins were buried.
To prove that the claims of mass burial are real, Rev. Dachomo took a team of journalists to the site where 27 victims were buried in a mass grave in the Bindi-Jebbu community of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on July 25, 2025, after they were brutally murdered by Fulani militias in an attack on July 15, 2025.
According to the teary Rev. Dachomo, the victims included women and children who were gunned down and macheted by the bandits in an overnight assault.
In the video, Rev. Dachomo said Sheikh Gumi had not only desecrated the de@d by spitting on their graves but had also made a mockery of the survivors who are still trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones who were k!lled for no reason.
He also vowed that the community is willing and ready to dig up the grave and bring out the coffins to prove to the world that there were corpses at the time of the burial.
Addressing Gumi directly, the clergy said: “How dare you say we bûried empty caskets? The youths are ready we’re going to dig the graves. We are ready to bring out the corpses before everyone’s eyes!”
He also called on the United States, the United Nations, local and international media to come to the state with a promise to take them around various graves where murdered Christians were buried to further prove that the genocide narratives are real.
In his anger, Rev. Dachomo said Sheikh Gumi will surely face the wrath of God in the fullness of time for downplaying the wanton k!lling of innocent people by Fulani militias in the state.

Police Detain Wife, Children Of Late Ondo Ex-Governorship Candidate Akingboye Over Alleged Murder
The Nigerian Police have reportedly detained the wife and children of the late Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Bamidele Akingboye, over suspicions surrounding his sudden death.
Akingboye, 60, was found dead last week at his Victoria Garden City (VGC) residence in Lagos. Initial reports suggested he died from natural causes, but images circulating on social media showing bruises and deep cuts on his head and neck raised fresh concerns about foul play.
According to police sources, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Lagos, took into custody Akingboye’s wife, four of his children, and several domestic staff members for questioning. The move comes as part of what authorities describe as a “discreet but thorough investigation” into the circumstances of his death.
Unconfirmed reports allege that the late politician may have been pushed from a balcony during a domestic dispute.
Media reports had earlier quoted sources linking one of his wives to the incident, though the claim remains under investigation.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police has ordered a forensic probe and crime scene analysis to establish the true cause of death. Civil society groups and political observers have also called for transparency, warning against any attempt to cover up the case.
As at the time of filing this report, the police had yet to make an official statement on the detention, but officers confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
Akingboye contested the November 2024 Ondo State governorship election under the platform of the SDP, where he emerged as one of the major contenders before his sudden demise.
