The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a summons for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to appear on November 28, 2025. The hearing aims to settle records related to an appeal he filed before the court’s November 20 judgment, which sentenced him to life imprisonment on terrorism charges.

However, a hitch has emerged: the court declined to issue a production warrant, which is necessary for authorities to transport Kanu from Sokoto Prison to Abuja. This development adds another layer of uncertainty to the ongoing legal proceedings.

Kanu’s legal team has been vocal about concerns over his health and trial process, previously citing judicial misconduct allegations against the presiding judge, Justice Omotosho. The case has drawn significant national and international attention, with calls for transparency and fairness.

The appeal hearing is set to proceed, but the lack of a production warrant raises questions about logistics and Kanu’s participation.
