BREAKING: Senator Natasha Akpoti Alleges Seizure of Passport
By Christy Emeka
Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused authorities of withholding her international passport and preventing her from travelling abroad.
The lawmaker disclosed this on Tuesday morning on her Facebook page, during a live broadcast.
According to her, the incident occurred shortly after she concluded activities marking her second year in office.
“After the celebration of my second year, I decided to take a week off, but my passport is being withheld again. This is the second time it’s happening,” she said.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan insisted she has committed no offence and that there was no court order authorising the seizure of her passport.
“I have committed no offense and there is no order from the court to seize my passport and deny me traveling.
“The last time it happened, the officer in charge told us that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, instructed them to withhold my passport and stop me from travelling,” she alleged.
