Businessman excretes 127 cocaine wraps at Kano airport

A 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, after excreting a total of 127 wraps of cocaine concealed in his private part and stomach.

This was disclosed on Sunday, October 12, 2025, by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja.

According to the agency, Ejiofor, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was apprehended upon his arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, following credible intelligence. A body scan confirmed he had ingested illicit drugs and concealed some in his private part.

NDLEA said 58 wraps of cocaine were first recovered from his pant before he was placed under excretion observation, during which he excreted 69 additional wraps in seven rounds, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.

Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives also intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs bound for the United Kingdom at a courier company in Lagos between Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10. The seizures included 1.74 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in glass ceramics, 114 grams and 168 grams of pentazocine and tramadol injections, and 48 grams of tramadol capsules concealed in Vitamin C containers.

Other thwarted attempts involved 2.6 kilograms of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol 250mg concealed in black soap tablets heading to Turkey, 169 grams of cocaine hidden in handbags bound for Australia, and 568 grams of “loud,” a strong strain of cannabis, concealed in herbal containers destined for the United Arab Emirates.

At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, 27,510 pills of rohypnol concealed in alcoholic drink sachets en route to South Africa were intercepted.

NDLEA operatives arrested a freight agent and a cab driver linked to the shipment and later apprehended the mastermind, 46-year-old Samuel Omoruyi (alias Yellow), at Oyingbo Market on October 2.

On the same day, Italy-based businessman Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen was arrested for attempting to export 3,700 pills of tramadol 225mg and 2,600 tablets of tapentadol 200mg hidden in food items to Italy. He claimed he was trafficking the drugs for another person for a fee of €945.

In Edo State, a raid on the home of one Emmanuel Sunday, 33, at Ugbekpe Ekperi in Etsako Central LGA led to the recovery of 47 kilograms of skunk. In Osun State, two suspects, Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo, 48, and Oladejo Taiwo, 52, were arrested at Omifufun village, Ife South LGA, with 635 kilograms of skunk in their vehicle, while two others, Timothy Omiwole, 41, and Isaac Achiatan, 36, were caught with 100 kilograms of the same substance.

In Rivers State, two suspects, Okoro Julius, 20, and Onyebuchi Nwibo, 25, were arrested over the seizure of 8.5 kilograms of skunk, while in Katsina, 46-year-old Sulaiman Kalalu was nabbed with 29.5 kilograms of the substance at Bayan Asiti, Jibia town.

Similarly, NDLEA officers in Niger State arrested Yisa Daniel, 29, at New Bussa with 22,000 capsules of tramadol, 800 ampoules of pentazocine injection, and 150,000 pills of exol-5. In Ondo State, 312 kilograms of skunk were recovered from a bush at Ologede camp, Ogbese, while 141.8 kilograms were intercepted from two suspects—Francis John, 39, and Adeyemi Taiwo, 46—along the Benin-Lagos expressway.

In Kaduna, operatives arrested 27-year-old Rufai Ahmed, also known as Farin Malam, at the Abuja-Kaduna toll gate with 150,000 pills of exol-5 being transported from Lagos to Katsina.

BREAKING: Unknown Gunmen Attack Gov. Otti’s Advance Team In Imo, As Scores Were Kidnapped From A Bus Along Owerri-Road Road

An advance team of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, escaped unhurt after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in the early hours of Tuesday, December 2, 2025, along the Umuowa–Ihite axis in Imo State.

The three-member team was en route to Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, Owerri, when the attack occurred shortly before the airport junction.

In a statement electronically signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the Abia Government clarified that Governor Otti’s main convoy was not involved in the incident and was nowhere near the location at the time.

“The convoy of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, was not attacked. No member of the advance team or any other person sustained injury, and no life was lost,” the statement stressed, urging the public to disregard rumours suggesting otherwise.

It was learned that Security agencies have been notified, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the assailants.

Meanwhile, a commercial bus plying along Owerri -Aba road towards the Ngor Okpala axis was attacked Monday and scores of passengers were feared kidnapped by yet-to-identify gunmen.

Gunmen attack Ngige’s convoy in Anambra

The convoy of former Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, was attacked by gunmen in Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Ngige who confirmed the incident to newsmen, stated that he was not in the convoy when the attack occurred. He mentioned that several people were shot and injured.

“I was not in the convoy. I’m still alive and well. Those hoodlums have started again. I came to my state to relax, but what happened is unfortunate. I will go back to Abuja. But I assure those who did this, they will not go unpunished.” he said

The vehicles were reportedly returning from a mechanic workshop in Nkpor when the gunmen struck along the busy Umuoji–Nkpor Road leading to Alor, Ngige’s hometown.

According to Mr. Fred Chukwulobelu, Ngige’s former Special Adviser on Media, a policeman in the pilot car was shot, and the attackers, dressed in police and army uniforms, took away his gun and uniform.

He also confirmed that a woman filming the incident was fatally shot. He added that a shop owner who rushed out to see what was happening was also shot; he lost significant blood and is scheduled for surgery, but is expected to recover fully.

The pilot car was riddled with bullets, while the wounded escort leader has undergone surgery and is also expected to recover.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command said it has launched a state-wide manhunt for the perpetrators.
