Ekwutosblog Abuja, 4 June 2025 — In a bold step toward enhancing welfare and infrastructural development within the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, today presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Armed Forces Mess and Suites Event Centre at the AFN Mess in Abuja.
The high-profile event drew Principal Staff Officers from Defence Headquarters as well as representatives from the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The upcoming state-of-the-art facility, being executed by Mouldstar 1 Estate Developer, is projected for completion by December 2025.
Designed to seat 1,000 guests, the event centre will also feature modern amenities tailored to meet the needs of both military and civilian guests, reinforcing the AFN’s commitment to world-class standards.
In his remarks, the CDS commended the organisers and reiterated his dedication to improving the welfare of personnel across the services. He announced plans to initiate similar projects and expand existing accommodation at the AFN Mess. Additionally, he revealed that the AFN will soon commission a mini barracks at Dei Dei and construct a new standard regimental mess.
General Musa emphasized that such initiatives align with his broader vision of ensuring dignity, comfort, and operational readiness for all service members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
