Court orders VeryDarkMan to delete ‘defamatory’ posts against Falana

Justice M.O Dawodu of an Ikeja high court has issued an interim order restraining social critic, Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, from further circulating or publishing any defamatory video or comments against legal expert, Femi Falana.

Ruling on an ex parte application on Monday, October 14, the presiding judge ordered VeryDarkMan to delete “defamatory comments and videos” concerning Falana from all his social media pages.

While giving the ruling on Monday, the judge also ruled that the Falanas can serve VDM court papers through his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju. The court also held that Falana has 14 days to file the pre-action bundle on VDM’s lawyer and gave the order for VDM to delete any defamatory post against Falana on his page within 14 days from when this order was given.

Recall that on Tuesday September 24th, VDM released a purported audio conversation between Bobrisky and a male friend in which Bob claimed he spoke with Falz while he was in prison and that Falz and his dad, Femi Falana, SAN, tried to get him a presidential pardon for an exchange of N10 million.

VDM, in his reaction, expressed disgust at Falz and his father for associating with Bobrisky and even asked if Falz ‘dey do’’, a comment some have interpreted to him questioning Falz’s sexuality.

The Falanas have since denied helping Bobrisky to facilitate any presidential pardon. Falz in a statement from his father’s chambers on September 25, confirmed that Bobrisky reached out to him on May 4 to ask for N3 million to secure a VIP section in the prison. He said he refused to give Bobrisky any money. Falz stated that VDM’s comment portrayed him to be a homos£xual, one to pervert the cause of justice and a complicit in the upturning of justice for financial gains. The rapper also argued that VDM also portrayed him as a fake human rights activist without contacting him to hear his side of the story.

Femi Falana denied ever speaking to Bobrisky or having any dealings with him. He has also stated that his chambers never charge a dime to secure a presidential pardon.

Kano govt denies acquiring $6.6 million loan under Yusuf administration

Published

The Kano State Government has emphatically denied securing a new $6.6 million external loan under the state government led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, labelling the accusations false, misleading and politically motivated.

The denial was in respect to a report on June 11, 2025, which quoted political group APC Patriotic Volunteers as saying the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) led government has contracted the loan within two years of being in the office.

In a press statement issued by Dr. Hamisu Sadi Ali Director General of the Kano State Public Debt Management Office (PDMO), the state government clarified that the report is “malicious, unfounded, and politically motivated,” and took a swipe against the group under the leadership of Alhaji Usman Alhaji, the group’s leader, which was the Secretary to the State Governor in the administration of ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the government’s ally.

“It is surprising and sad that a person who was part of the administration who enacted the Public Debt Management Office Law in 2021, to exhibit such ignorance or deliberate misinformation” the statement explained.
Quoting Section 4(b) of the Public Debt Management Office Law, Dr. Sadi Ali emphasized that no loan can be undertaken by the state government without the direct involvement and knowledge of the PDMO.

He clarified that since taking office, the current NNPP administration has not signed or contracted any new external or domestic loans. Instead, the government has been focusing on servicing what it described as “excessive debts” inherited from the previous administration.

“The APC Patriotic Volunteers should provide verifiable evidence if they insist a loan was obtained. This includes the name of the creditor, a copy of the loan agreement, the intended purpose of the loan, terms and conditions, and records of negotiations,” Dr. Sadi Ali stated.

He added that the people of Kano are well-informed and can distinguish between factual information and politically motivated propaganda.

“The current administration remains committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Kano and will not be distracted by politically engineered falsehoods,” he said.

The PDMO concluded its statement by urging the public to disregard what it called a “smear campaign driven by political interests rather than facts.”
