Leaders of thought and prominent political figures drawn from across the Okigwe Zone have once again demonstrated their confidence in the leadership of Senator Patrick Ndubueze, who represents the zone at the National Assembly.

Their renewed support came during the formal inauguration of the Board of Trustees for the Divine Project Organization, a strategic advisory body designed to support his developmental initiatives and enhance his legislative delivery.

The atmosphere at the event reflected unity and a shared commitment to progress, as political stakeholders, former lawmakers, elder statesmen, and community leaders from the six local government areas of the zone pledged their loyalty to the Senator’s vision. They commended his efforts in providing purposeful representation and emphasized the need for collective backing in order to actualize the zone’s development agenda.

In his address, Senator Ndubueze explained that the Divine Project was instituted to harness the expertise, wisdom, and experience of accomplished sons and daughters of Okigwe Zone. According to him, this think-tank would help guide decision-making, influence development strategies, and serve as a bridge between leadership and the people.

He reiterated his dedication to uplifting the living conditions of his constituents through quality representation, effective legislation, and meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders in the Senate. He assured the people that their welfare remains his central focus and that he would continue to serve with honesty and accountability.

Highlighting some of his major projects, the Senator spoke extensively about the Rural Electrification Project, an ambitious initiative designed to provide stable electricity across Okigwe Zone. Although the project has faced interruptions due to vandalism of power installations, he confirmed that corrective measures are being taken and progress is ongoing. He expressed gratitude to Governor Hope Uzodimma for fostering a peaceful environment that supports development.

Senator Ndubueze further emphasized that tackling insecurity requires sustainable job creation, and this has influenced many of his developmental priorities. He maintained that employment opportunities, economic growth, and access to basic infrastructure are essential for peace and stability in the region.

He also celebrated the successful passage of the bill establishing the Federal University of Okigwe Zone, which has now been signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Senator praised Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his support and noted that the university will catalyze educational advancement, innovation, and economic transformation across the zone.

Addressing speculation that he is personally benefiting from his projects, Senator Ndubueze dismissed such claims, stating that his work is driven purely by service and responsibility. He affirmed that true wealth lies in legacy, integrity, and the positive impact one makes on humanity.

Explaining the rural power project in more detail, he disclosed that it involves the construction of a significant power substation and transmission lines from Umuahia to Alaoji and Okigwe. This multi-billion-naira project is expected to provide lasting electricity solutions not just for Okigwe but for surrounding regions. He commended Governor Uzodimma for standing as guarantor to reinforce the state’s commitment to the project before contractors.

Senator Ndubueze expressed concern over the continued vandalism affecting the electricity infrastructure but assured that repairs were underway. He acknowledged President Tinubu and the Imo State Governor for their timely interventions and hinted that the official flag-off would follow the reconstruction of damaged towers.

He also announced plans to relocate and rebuild the Silo at Ezinnachi in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. Land for the project has been secured with community cooperation, and the facility is expected to boost food storage, agriculture, and local commerce.

Furthermore, Senator Ndubueze revealed that several road construction projects and erosion control works have been awarded across the zone. He mentioned that additional projects have been included in the 2026 Appropriation Bill, ensuring that every local government area in Okigwe Zone benefits from current and future development efforts.

One of the high points of the event was the official presentation and adoption of his scorecard, detailing his achievements and ongoing programs. The ceremony concluded with the inauguration of a 41-member Board of Trustees for the Divine Project, whose members pledged their commitment to working alongside the Senator in actualizing his vision.

The motion for the adoption of the committee was moved by Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibe and seconded by Hon. James Esile, followed by a unanimous voice vote presided over by Rt. Hon. Maxwell Duru. The support demonstrated at the event signified unity, trust, and a shared purpose among the political elite of the zone.

In attendance were respected leaders such as Rt. Hon. Maxwell Duru, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibe, Hon. Ben Ozoemenam, Hon. James Esile, among others. Their presence reflected broad-based support cutting across generations and political affiliations, reaffirming that Senator Ndubueze’s leadership continues to inspire confidence and hope among the people of Okigwe Zone.
