Ekiti Assembly gets new clerk

The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye, has announced the appointment of Mr Opeyemi Ajibola as the clerk of the Assembly.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media to the Speaker, Mr Babajide Agbeyo, on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that with the appointment, Ajibola is the 8th substantive clerk of the Assembly.

Aribasoye said the appointment was the outcome of a rigorous selection exercise conducted among qualified senior officers of the Assembly.

According to him, the process complied with Section 9(1) of the Assembly Commission Law, 2022, which empowers the speaker to appoint a clerk from among the senior management staff of the Assembly.

Aribasoye said that Ajibola succeeded Mrs Titilope Agbede, the first indigenous female clerk of the Assembly, who retired on October  31, 2025 after 35 years in service.

Ajibola, who served as clerk in an acting capacity from May 30, 2024 to August 20, 2024, was the Deputy Clerk, Legal Matters before his new appointment.

The speaker stated that Ajibola’s appointment, which is subject to confirmation by the House, takes immediate effect.
