Ex- Super Eagles coach who discovered Finidi George, Taribo West, dies at 88
Former Super Eagles coach, Monday Sinclair, has passed away at the age of 88 after a prolonged battle with diabetes.
The news of his passing was confirmed by former Nigeria goalkeeper, Peterside Idah, in a heartfelt Facebook post. According to Idah, Sinclair died on Wednesday at around 3:15 pm.
“Our daddy is gone. What a man. He signed me to play for Sharks. Gave me my first match against Niger Tornadoes of Minna,” Idah wrote.
Sinclair briefly took charge of the Nigerian national team in 1997, serving as interim coach after the departure of Philippe Troussier.
During his short stint, he oversaw two friendly matches against Zambia and Tunisia.
Throughout his career, Sinclair played a key role in discovering and mentoring several prominent Nigerian footballers, including Peter Rufai, Taribo West, Finidi George, and Idah Peterside.
He is remembered for his keen eye for talent and lasting contributions to Nigerian football.
