A family is grief-stricken following the tragic death of their son and brother, Daudi Wilbadi.

Daudi was allegedly killed by a mob while out having drinks with his friends, leaving his family devastated.

The incident occurred around 7 pm in Kilimanjaro, when Daudi got into an argument over money.

Why did mob attack Daudi?

In the heat of the altercation, he reportedly stabbed one man, Ishmael Abdul, in the stomach with a knife.

Ishmael, who survived the ordeal and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, is said to have tried to mediate between Daudi and another man, who were arguing over debts owed to each other.

Following the stabbing, locals at the scene attacked Daudi, seriously injuring him, which led to his death.

The young politician’s family expressed their grief, noting that he had a bright future ahead of him.

Daudi had been vying for a Member of Parliament seat under the CUF in Tanzania when his life was tragically cut short.

What did family say after politician’s death?

His sister, Anette Wilbrodi, said they received the tragic news that fateful evening, shattering their hopes.

“He was vying for an MP’s seat. He leaves behind a young wife and two children, one in Class Four and the other in Class One. We were just told he got involved in an argument and was attacked by locals,” she stated.

Anette said Daudi’s death has left a huge void in the family, as they never anticipated he would pass away so young, just as he was at the prime of his life.

“We are waiting for our relatives from Geita so we can begin burial plans, but we want to urge the police to bring all those responsible to justice,” she said.

One of his neighbours described him as a good man whose life was taken far too soon.

Police officers in Kilimanjaro responded to the crime scene and launched investigations into the matter.

Eight people have so far been arrested for taking the law into their own hands and attacking the young politician to his death.
