The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command says its operatives have arrested at least three members of car theft syndicate in the nation’s capital.

A statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of the command, Josephine Adeh said the arrest followed a distress call received by the Durumi Division regarding the theft of a Toyota Corolla, 2005 model, gold in colour, with registration number KUJ 208 DA.

She said the vehicle was stolen from the owner’s residence.

The vehicle, according to the statement, was tracked to a workshop in Durumi, where it was undergoing illegal refurbishment.

Josephine said that the colour of the car was being altered by one of the suspects in an attempt to evade detection and facilitate a quick resale.

She revealed that a further search of the premises led to the recovery of another suspected stolen vehicle, one red Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA 844 CK, which was previously reported stolen from a residence in Jikwoyi.

The three suspects include one Steven Musa, David Dalyol (a painter), and Ibrahim Mohammed (a mechanic).

“During interrogation, they confessed to being members of a car theft syndicate operating across Wuse, Central Area, Jikwoyi, and Bwari axis of the FCT.

“They admitted to stealing several vehicles, refurbishing them, and reselling them as newer models.

“The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Hundreds of families displaced by last year’s devastating floods in Kamfani Village, Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, are set to receive building support and relocation assistance from the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the Kebbi State Government.

The aid forms part of a long-term recovery effort to support victims who lost their homes and livelihoods during the torrential rains that caused widespread flooding across the state. Many of the affected households have been living in precarious conditions since the disaster.

Ekwutosblog gathered that the flood, which struck during the peak of the rainy season, submerged homes, destroyed farmlands, and left scores of residents in Kamfani Village without shelter or access to basic amenities.

To aid the reconstruction and resettlement process, NEMA has provided essential building materials, including one lorryload of cement, 600 roofing sheets, 200 bundles of zinc, and 50 bags of nails, among other items.

The Director General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, represented by Aliyu Shehu Kashin Dangi, said the support was aimed not only at providing immediate relief but also at promoting long-term stability and resilience within the affected community.

The Kebbi State Government has also established a committee to oversee the allocation of land at a new site designated for the displaced residents of Kamfani Village.

According to the Chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Alhaji Bello Rilisko, the committee will commence work on Monday to ensure that every displaced household is allocated a plot in the new settlement.
