FG has commenced the process of reviving Oguta River port in Imo State, says it is vital to Tinubu’s development agenda for Southeast.
The Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Mr. Bola Oyebamiji has said the Oguta River Port in Imo state is critical for the achievement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration vision for the South East region of Nigeria.
To actualize the vision, Oyebamiji disclosed that NIWA has commenced the process of reviving the port as part of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy’s masterplan for the development of ports across the country.
Speaking while receiving a Technical Team of the Orashi Special Energy Free Trade Zone, led by its Managing Director, Dr Chioma Nwachukwu, the NIWA helmsman expressed the agency’s readiness to partner with private interests in achieving its objectives.He affirmed:
“The Oguta River Port is central to the development of the SouthEast region and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Federal Ministry of Marine Economy. NIWA is open to a public-private partnership for the quick revitalisation of the port facility”
